I've resolved the problem.
It was a clash, between 3G redundant internet service supplied via a USB modem, and a TCP/IP LAN connection to a notebook. The connection had been working with a DSL internet connection.
The odd thing is, that I had disabled the Network cards for both the TCP connection & the DSL modem, so one would think, there should not have been a problem.
Only after changing the IP addressing on the TCP connection back to automatic, would the 3G connection allow me to connect to Evony.
This implies I can connect either to Evony or my Notebook, but not both simultaneously.
