Thread: How would you survive a zombie apocalypse?

  1. #301

    Question

realistic plan? nah A few of these people have good plans that you think are bad i have to disagree with you ratterbee ( yes i spelt your name wrong) so whatever...the Island plan is a good idea i would rather take my chances with Norr or the guy that was saying living on the oil rig... or even the guy with the boat plan...you think its unrealistic because you love to disagree with everyone but whatever while we keep dreaming you'll prolly be dead at your home from all the zombies coming to get you..while we are drinking are beers and building are walls and gardens and are protected fences all while you sit there and roam the earth as a zombie

King Alboin yeah i know most states have them kinda laws for certain weapons like the ones you mentioned..i was just showing that picture because i thought it looked cool and pretty easy to make if you had the time you needed to make that melee weapon..at your base you can make bows arrows even swords if you obtained a collection of blacksmith books on your journey to safty..im from wisconsin and i heard that you could get a permit to have swords or what not but not sure like i said i *heard*

Also you could make a few potato guns? lol you can stick nails or what ever you have laying around and use them to shoot at zombies

Again Fresh, no one reads your posts. They're nonsense. You probably tried to attack me again, but you only feel threatened because I insulted you (correctly). You don't actually have anything to refute or reasonably disagree with what I say.

Feel free to continue posting, but your comments aren't acknowledged.

Ok, well I'm getting tired of talking over the heads of children. If anyone with a brain wants to continue this, I'll be back on Sunday. Until then, I'm sorry for having riled up Fresh420. I really am. Please accept my apologies for causing him to expel his vomit-mouth syndrome here in this thread.

edit: I didn't double post. Some random new account made a post saying that his/her reaction would be that of Shaun of the Dead. I mocked them. They deleted their post. eric deleted my post and ....added it to this one making me look like an idiot.

Actually raster, Fresh has shown a much better attitude, here of late, and I am reading his posts. His "tahaha's, durs, and blah blahs have ceased, so one should not discount his posts. The man said he was 29, and is acting like it. Forgiveness should be a part of this community, for some, would you not think?

I can imagine, that given the circumstances of this thread, that should we all end up in the same group, how would we act towards one another? Hypothetically speaking.

We would need to depend on each other for survival, to guard each other's back. There would be no perfect group of everyone getting along and picking daiseys in our spare time. There would be disagreements, arguements, hurt feelings, and the pecking order would establish itself in due course. But when a member of our hypothetical group shows growth, others should acknowledge it. dont cha think?

Oh, I think that battle axe is way cool, and with some scrap metal, baseball bats, a solar charged electric powered chainsaw, a solar charged electric powered drill, some scrounged nuts and bolts, hack saws and some files, I could conceive an arsenal, for those who choose melee weapons. Along with bolts for crossbows, and arrows for bows.

I would think, that go ahead and make a few, learn the skill, stash that skill in your mind and sinews, and viola' , an aftermath marketable skill, good for barter and trade. Set up shop on the islands of Norr or The Luda's.

Myself, I am working on a plan for forts ....

its a work in progress, but no stone masons were injured in the making of this fort, and it can be made with dirt and sand and hog wire and barbed wire and shipping containers.

This is just a rough draft, that I got off the web, which I will use for a base model for what I envision would be more suitable for an aftermath of the ZA, to house and protect the remnants, and of course a shop gabion for my wonderful tank.

are there any suggestions that should be included inside the fort?

like a market or saloon or clinic or norr's quaranteen area or anything else?

    So far the list is:

    Shop gabion for wonderful tank
    Quarantee area
    Market
    Clinic
    Saloon
    Arsenal shop
    Group campfire
    Well
    Guard shacks
    Laundry tubbs
    Latrines/showers for men/women
    Watch towers
    School
Shipping container housing for what? 16 people? more?

    anything else?

personally if i found myself in a zombie apocalypse, theres 2 things id do, if the option was available and i didnt have many ppl with me id make my way to an island, there are many where life would be sustainable on around ireland and itd be a good and safe way to ride an apocalypse out

another option is if youd a large group of people, wall up inside a football stadium, itd be easy to seal off and defend, also the pitch would be great for growing crops etc so living would be sustainable there too

see this is 1 reason why you would have a 50/50% chance of surviving you need to have co-operation instead of criticizing so if you don't have a reason to be here but hate, leave.

Just dropping by to add my two cents: First, @ Fresh420, people respect other people that use proper grammar. After all, the computer gods blessed us with a full keyboard for reasons OTHER than NOT using all of the keys on it. That aside, I'd like to know what your basic plan for group survival is, provided that you aren't able to find transportation to an isolated island.

Rasterbee, as good as your posts have been, arguments only result in head-bashing and gloating at the end, nothing else. I know I sound like a mini-mod here, but I enjoy the posts where you're being serious a lot more than the head-bashing ones.

@KA, how would the fort be built? What's the planned protection while it remains unfinished? I think it would be highly unwise to simply start building a fort when you've got no other strong means of protection in the meantime.

As for myself, I can't conceive a better plan than getting near/in the water and staying there, as zombies cannot swim -- at least as far as I can tell. Boats are easy enough to find near shore, but alas, there is no guarantee of true protection if the infection is also airborne, as not even the middle of the ocean would be safe.

    @Fresh:

Yes, would need to have a protected area for a motor pool, of assorted vehicles, scrounged and stolen, with mech shop. good thinking.

I would imagine that a tunnel system would be great folly. In a last resort fort, all entrances must be guarded. Tunnels, though they can be used for exits, can also be used for entrances. The few the entrances, the fewer the breach of security.

Now, I say that to say this. Consider that the initial fort is successful, in keeping a remnant of Live ones alive, fed, water'd, healthy, clean, etc ...

Other forts can be built away from the phase one fort, to be used as "outposts". Those outpost can be utilized to house, a small garrison for protection for the workers/laborer/farmers, etc of whatever the outpost is needed for.

With that aspect in view, I could conceive advanced tunnel egresses into those outposts, but not into the main fort. Isolation from the danger of the outside would be prefered. The main fort is for the aquisition of what is left of civilization, to be able to teach the future generation what's what, and what was, and for the protection of the first core group. To re-establish the societal culture of the living that remains, to try to defeat the hoards of Zombs in learning to understand the Zombs, and what kills them deader than they are. To answer Jurnis's query, indirectly, but in answer to why not no tunnels in the first fort. The first fort is the most dangerous fort to build. A complex advanced tunnel system that will disallow the Z's entrance, requires manpower and equipment and a high degree of engineering to prevent unwanted collapses. If workers get killed digging a tunnel, then the loss will be felt by their family and friends, and those who labor, could not be replaced. there would be no job-corps to go out and recruit diggers. Noa, after some time, exploration, events of killing, hardening of spirit, maturation of the situation that has evolved, along with others who have been vetted, then allowed to join the community, should they prove true and alive. after after after, then yes, mayhaps maybe, but not part of the original design, no.

    @Jurnis:

I have been argueing for chainsaws, through out this whole thread, mostly. I have put forth a way to intitially build a fort from saplings, small trees, used as a barracade against an onslaught from the herd. I have been arguing for scrounging and scavaging, looting and plunder. I have called the group from WD morons, because they just dont get it yet, and folks die or get there right hand severed because of the moronical behavior of stupid "hero protaganists". I view that series as a "how to get killed from zombies, for dummies" manual, not to immolate.

    The debate stood;

"do that and you die" , " well if you do that then you will die"

well, then I die, but if I dont die, I want to live, and I dont want to lay down in fear and await death.

So!, forgoing and not accepting the advice of the simple, who only view the world that aint but 20 yards past their noses, I take to my days to where's I lived in the wood, and garner advice from that, for somewhere, someplace, somehow, one must take a stand against "whatever" is trying to kill them. in this case Zombies.

This forum is from a game that has hords of evil members who try their best to defeat, your castle. Let's take that further and say, that study how the old ones, back in the darkages where able to survive.

They would first build a secure encampment.

K .. using saplings, which are not that girthy but tall and strong, and using a chainsaw, one, just one person can build a small bastion of pointy a stick type fortress. mayhaps an acre in size. Cans on wire may sound an alarm, but it wont stop Bob the Zombie from entering camp. a Pointy pearcing sapling fence will. I worked on a ranch up in montana when I was young, and built fences. That is actually what ranch work is, building fences. These fences where called "jack laid" fences. They held back horses, bulls, cows, and prevented bears from entering. Sun Tsu said this, "know your enemy, and know yourself, and you will be victorious." k .. well, Bob the Zombie aint stronger than a bear, so the fence will hold him/her back till they can be dispatched.

    Next day, strengthen the fence.

Next day, do forays out about and find hogg wire

Next day, fight off another Zomb herd, burn corpses for assurity of dead is dead, and needs to stay that way.

Next day, survey the field, and post stakes

Next day, plan where to put the bales of dirt

Next day, etc etc ..... till complete.

    yes?
