yes we might not survive the 1st week but not just because were not pre-prepared it's because we don't know what were dealing with a mysterius virus with an initial zombie or a government plague? also because everyone is thinking inside the box like there will be at least 20 people at your walmart maybe more if your in a well populated city

I see your point, rasterbee, and you are correct. What one has on them, right now, is what they have to deal with what ever will happen in the future. I have been contemplating your view since you first mentioned it last week, and with every mile I travelled, I was almost always thinking, "I could use that, if "IT" hit right now. The point is, I've travelled 2300 miles since last week, and believe me, when I say, I found the exact right spot I want to end up at, for a ZA. I am not nieve to think that I will end up there, Odin only knows, where I will end up, or you or anybody. More so for me, though, out of this group.

However, as this discussion progesses along, those that post have an idea what it is their goal wants to be. I have said in the past, for a survival situation to be successful, for one to survive the worst possible scenario, one must have a goal. No matter how silly or childish it seems.

Generate a string of goals, codify them, and seek to attain them. There is nothing wrong with that. If one does not have these goals, and tend to strive to attain them, then they loose hope. If hope is lost, then all is lost. Might aswell join the dead's walking marathon.

I for one, aint just gonna lay down and die. Nor do I think you are.

What would a future hold? Well, this is what is being discussed.

    Take from this point:

Okay, against all odds, we made it two weeks without getting bit, we might be half starved, but we have been successful in our walmart forays, and armory breakins. There is a small group, no more than platoon size, no less than a fire team, with a few women's and childrens in a protective pleroma.

What then does the future hold? We know you are on a farm, you made it. whew, close call but blessed be, you made it.

Me?, well I found my tank, despite that Zombie captain, who dint want me to have it.

    Nor found his island

Balaam is ontop of his escarpment in Ozzy land, brewing beer

What now? Has all of society gone Zomb face?

Back in oh heck ... 78,000 bce, there was almost a complete extinction of our species.

I dont know how many were on the earth in 79,000 bce, but paleoarchiologist say there were only about 1,800 to 18,000 humans left on this planet.

The population did not reach 3,000,000 until [correct me if I am wrong about the date] 7,000 bce? give or take a few millineums.

So, what do you think would be the total devastation number, starting with 7 billion and minus what? your original estimate was 6.9 billion folks turned Z. So okay, lets use that number ... wow big number ... so 100,000,042 people remain on this planet, scattered all about.

My first question to you is, what then? or now? or then?

My second question to you is ...

Do you know how to make a Zombie laugh?

tell them this is your getaway car ...

    Dog of War grrrrr

it's not childish at all..how do you know what he can get from his buddies? If people happen to make it on the first day of the Zombie rapture yes you will be fighting for supplies like weapons and stuff from other people..but if you think about it most people are dumb they will not shoot for the head of the Zombies which will in return kill that person and leave the gun or guns on the side of the road Zombies aren't gonna pick the guns up are they? so there ya go few guns laying on the road and if the person that had the guns was smart he would have ammo also prolly in a backpack or car or what ever he was driving at the time..that to would be sitting there full of weapons.and supplies...so in the case you need a weapon and the streets are cleared just scope around and im sure you can find a melee weapon or gun..And the island your not gonna be there the first day of this rapture will take time to get there..so in that period you can search for other survivors and continue your journey keep searching for people and weapons and supplies needed...week or two pass by maybe your getting closer and closer to an island...and maybe a month passes by and you got a map of an ocean and you find yourself with about 20 people or more and you finnaly reach a boat dock..prolly will be plenty of boats there so hop on in and make sure theres plenty of gas to get you where you are going..and when you reach this island send out a party of people just in case Zombies happen to be there..see any zombies kill them all..days pass and now the island is secure..this is the time where you will need to start foretifing the area so chomp down trees gather vines so you can make rope and there you go..you can now build walls..and can start a garden to grow crop..and now its a well protected camp/base or what ever you wanna call it...and if you run out of supplies on the island you can always take a group of people back to the city and slowly make your way to menards/fleetfarm/ home depot/walmart or what ever is closest..a search party to grab what ever supplies are needed to bring back..also would prolly wanna leave a sign or something near the docks for any other roaming survivors out there that happen to make it to the docks..sorta what they did in this zombie movie i seen on netflix telling them that there will be a pick up of survivors every 2 days or something around there..

Like Jurnis sorry if i spelt your name wrong..but i would also have a sword i have a nice collection of swords i love my katana great in battle amongst zombies...i perfer melee over a gun any day..but i do own a few guns that i would not use unless needed to be used..i rather kill a zombie with my sword and save my ammo...

okay this is what raster means by it being childesh for asking army friends (at least i think) if there is a Z-day the army would be the 1st line of defence which means they would need the guns and wouldn't be easy to get it if they are stopping the outbreak also it won't be easy to get the gun from them what go over to their house and say "hey i need a gun?" they will have their guns and be long gone

Where is this island? How are you going to build walls? Most all of you think this is a joke and just talk about impossibly ridiculous reactions. This is serious business and none of you will make it. Anyone who survives the first week will be extremely lucky, I probably won't survive the first week.

You only have what you actually own right now. You might be able to go hit up a Wal-Mart or liquor store or gun shop or Home Depot, but you'll be forced to compete with everyone else who is still alive and has that idea and all of the undead that were shopping and currently wandering around inside and near the stores.
Well most of the people I know have firearms already, I'm talking about getting more firepower which helps when you are in the military and know the people with the keys to the weapons vaults. Luckily for me if this outbreak occurs my home is not densely populated (lots of small rural communities) so the outbreak would not spread as quickly. I also live on a large island with small islands offshore so the slower spread of the virus here would allow time to find a suitable location but I already have a few in mind. Walls can be built from wood since once society breaksdown there is nothing but time on our hands, and luckily there are lumber yards not far from here along with plenty of trees that can be cut down. Living out in the country means most people also rely on woodstoves for heat and thus almost everyone has at least an axe to use as a melee weapon. Also most of the land around me is farmland so assuming the outbreak occurs after a crop is planted once it grows there is food that can be harvested.

    I'MMMMMMMM BAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

and rasterBee you don't know who will survive and who won't survive until this really happens in the real world..the things people are saying here is what they would do ..it might work for them and it may not but you will never know because we they them live in differnt places in the world..so you would have no clue who would survive... unless you live next door to most here..and see them die lol..i would rather live on an island then in a city or in the country the island is surrounded by water so you would be more then likely safe..and if this island has a bridge that you can drive across to get to well there ya go protect the bridge first would be the first thing you should do set land mines or what ever you can make to stop zombies from crossing but still keeping bridge intact..so in case you need to go out and look for supplies still lol maybe build a wall that can be moved somehow like a gate or something to...

yes i like your thinking if you have a sniper or a long ranged weapon it. If you own a barn and get some mates it would be perfect almost unlimited food along with a sniping spot (yes i know you guys are gonna call me stupid for saying to use a gun but if he lives that far out in the country then there won't be much zombies)

yes true how he wouldn't know but also i imagine most ppl that are well prepared WILL survive the first week because of the defence we will have help from the army, marines, air force and police officers and incase they don't make it that week will give anyone a huge advantage if they play it right

your not dumb..most farms have what you call deer stands built like a tower so you could always set up people in those deer stands to keep an eye on every direction with the gun..keep what ever zombies that happen to walk by in check snipe them from the deer stand and there ya go dead zombie lol...have people set up there 24/hrs a day switching every few hrs so one person can eat or sleep.
