Alby, prior to Castro overthrowing Batista, Cuba's only source of income was from the mob. It was a pseudo-state run by corrupt politicians answering to only the American and Italian mafia. It isn't politics that held them back, after Castro took over, things got better. People got food, were given jobs, and life in general improved for every single person on that island. Just because you support capitalism doesn't make other forms of gov't invalid.

But moving on, I've never heard your claims regarding swords being illegal. Provide a source, please. I can link to you dozens of websites that sell battle ready melee weapons (axes, maces, flails, swords, etc) that gladly ship to the United States.

And kinggray, I didn't suggest that everything was hunky dorey. Just that America was able to feed it's people. Yes, I'm sure there were some that starved to death, but there was a system in place to feed the impoverished. You've seen pictures of bread lines.

I refuse the inclination to be wetted into a political debate on these forums.

Someday, rasterbee, you are going to realize, I know what I know because I know it from past experiences, not from made up pretend like it. I used to be a nun chuck martial artist. until they destroy'd two pairs of chucks, and my sword. That is how I know the law, from the law telling me, it was against the law. I dont argue with the law.

It also gives further links to show you which states consider what they mean by dangerous weapons. and guys, I am only warning you cuz I may like you. If you choose not to accept my warning, then it is in your hands to be responsible for your actions in possessing them. Owning is one thing, possessing them means you take them out of your house, whether they are in your car or in your pack. And the law guys, will take them away from you and put them in that green mailbox looking vault, and destroy them. but k ... dont take my word for it. go ahead, try it out for yourself.

It's legal in all 50 states, Alby. You just can't carry them in public.

    then whats the point?

"Oh lookie there, up on the wall, I have a sword that I cannot carry out in public. Hmmmm I think I will go out for a jugg of wine. *whistles while walking to the store*

"AAAAEEEEEIIIIIIII, its a Zombie attack!!! Oh shrinkbellies, wish I had my sword, hanging up on my wall"

ooooh lookie there, King Alboin has just shot that mean ol' Zombie, that was going to bite me, in the headbone, and saved my life, again, because he was allowed to conceal and carry his M9.

You can always keep it in the trunk of your car. When I travel for extended periods I take my sword and baton with me, no joke.

I would not think you would joke, it was just a warning. For I figure, if one is to do it right, do it correctly, yet know the law and your limits. Outlaw times dont start till after the aftermath.

Me personally , I have all sorts of ordinary industrial looking beat'em'uppers , but I dont prefer them.

I am also thinking of getting a black powder rifle and a couple of navy colt pistols. Learned how to make gunpowder once, and in my fishing days, noticed that fishing weights are perfect for melting down into sabots and miniballs. Go all old timey and all.
