Default typical food you have at XMAS

so what is the typical food you have at xmas - just curious about the differences between nations, countries, areas,...

well we in the Free State of Saxony/Germany have ''wienerwürtschen'' (sausage) with potatoe salad, ham, bread, fish salad, fruit salad and so on at the 24th as dinner.

the 25th and the 26 we usually have goose, duck, turkey with potatoes, ''Klöße'' and such... for lunch and whole family meets and grandmas house to eat...

ohh and we get our xmas presents at the 24th already usually between coffee and dinner and either people just put them under the tree or have a santa show up.

since i am proud mom i have a santa that will let us have ours... ( hope i dont have to sing)

All best wishes to all for xmas and a great santa!

i'm not sure if its traditional but its fun, the dinner i am cooking for 14 adults and 3 children will be :-

starter of Spiced parsnip soup or langoustine salad

Main course of Roast goose/Honey Mustard Glazed ham
with Roast potatoes, roast carrots, parsnips, butternut squash. Honey basted sprouts with pancetta and parsnip and leek puree. (there will also be a nut roast for the 1 damn spoiltsport veggie)

Dessert of Lemon and ginger cheesecake with dark chocolate curl, profiteroles or christmas pudding flavour ice cream

Cheeseboard, mints and coffee optional afterwards

I'll probably be too tired to eat after cooking all of that but its worth it to make so many other people happy at christmas

This year I am stuffing some piggy protein with dried fruits, rolling it up, and baking it.

I shall be feasting on the souls of small children.

That kind old lady stopped the rain for us.
She said it would only make us cold, and miserable, and sick.
We thanked her and hugged her and she walked away smiling warmly.
    I miss the puddles...

What I eat doesn't have an English word for it. In Norwegian it's called "Pinnekjøtt", but yeh. No English word for it. This is a picture of it:

Here in Canada what my family does is Christmas Eve we do smaller snack foods like meatballs, spinich dip, fruit, chicken wings, chips, cheese and crackers type thing and generally have apple cider and/or beer. Christmas morning is a quiche. Then more light snacking throughout the day before the massive christmas dinner. This is either turkey, duck, or chicken, stuffing, potatoes, sweet potatoes, other assorted vegetables, cranberry sauce, and generally white wine or something along those lines to go with it. For dessert usually pie (usually apple, pumpkin, or strawberry rubarb) and vanilla ice cream.

We start off with bacon, eggs and pancakes for breakfast, stuffed turkey, peas we take out of the pods ourselves and roasted potatoes for lunch, then we have a dessert with our lunch which is chocolate-dipped strawberries and mint or in this case white chocolate and macadamia icecream. Then at dinner we have whatever we have left from lunch, which is usually alot.

Thanks Morgan for the awesome signature and avatar!
