You don't care at all about the health and well being of your family. You don't want to know anything about their personal life or how they are doing. You just want to briefly interact with them, then move on your way and not consider their existence again til next December?

You sound like an awesome friend/relative.

no............................but if they are going to be insensitve jerks then id rather them not interact with me, whether or not i love them and care for their well-being(which i do). the fact of the matter is that i dont need/want people making my day worse than is necessary. Im going to be as kind to them as possible and even if they are in a bad mood I would not say anything about it. But that doesnt mean i want to continue to have a conversation with this person if they are going to behave in this manner
