Rationally speaking, yes we might be able to say that. "Love" may be seen by many intellectuals as the result of chemical reactions in the brain, but it's there nonetheless.

What causes those reactions? Is it the need to be with a particular member of the opposite sex, to satisfy the basic instinct to continue the existence of our species, or is it something much deeper than that?

This is one of the things about us humans that can never really be rationalized, as it's a part of us--and people are never truly rational, right?
