well in OZ you only have to be 18 to drink, that was more than 30 years ago for me so you may need to check around

3. Lately, although there aren't nearly as many members online as there used to, the posts in general have had a higher quality, probably because the moderator team took the torch to the OT and burned down most of the game threads, making room for stuff that actually is worth discussing...

4. There's never a short supply of humor here. Even though the rate which such posts appear has gone down, we can still get a good laugh on occasion, which is a good thing, right?

There are plenty more, but as I said, it's only off the top of my head.

well when someone created a thread called "even the forums are dead"
i posted this....

here are my thoughts on why the forums are pretty dead lately

• they took the suggestion box off line so any discussion of suggestions here are basically a waste of time and effort, more a waste than before when they were basically a waste of time and effort
• standard answer to complaints is log a ticket, i don't know who goes to the forum before they log a ticket and get no response, but basically coming to the forum is a waste of time and effort if you have a problem
• create a thread to discuss the cheaters (bots, alts & shares) and it gets locked. i think because "there are no cheats" is the selling headline for evony
• post anything on the battle reports thread (unless you have a billion pults) and you get trashed by the trolls that think any hit not made by them is a waste of time and effort.
• post anything in the showoff thread (unless you have a billion pults) and you get trashed by the same trolls
• if you are new to the forum and you get trashed by trolls, your retort is usually deleted by the mods, i suppose to put the newbies in there place early, if you're a troll and you've been around for a while it seems you get a lot more latitude
• trash an in game player on the forums and get infracted, regardless of how much they deserve it or how much junk they talk in game
• if you have a sense of humour and you go to the OT you can have a little fun on the forum, but for the most part if you want to talk game and you aren't willing to be trashed by trolls then you stay away from most of the threads

EDIT:

• spambots are so rife on the forums that you have a hard time finding an actual new post (you know it's bad when a thread by the developers gets spammed)
• people keep creating the same thread over and over, like "we need a merge" "lag, lag, lag" or "what are you going to do about how boring the game has become"
• you can't post any new tricks you found on the forum lest it becomes an "exploit"
• if evony makes a dumb change (like the alliance cooldown) posting your grievance here falls on deaf ears
• there are too many posters that don't stay on topic. it's like a whole group of you have ADHD, the post could be about the effectiveness of a captcha and someone will post "we want a merge"... then the next 10-20 posts will be about merge

maybe someone else can add some reasons

but very few people responded so maybe they are.... dead that is

I know it does nothing, but the higher your title here...the more its addictive.

not much, that pretty much sums it up

cept to say, there should be an objective way to moderate the threads. Not to let personal preferences dictate what goes up and what gets axed.

And a more precise, catalogued set of rules, with precise lawerly interpretational examples.

Oh, and respect. Most important wrong I have seen, is the way threads are axed. On some occations, it seems its like a game, the more disrespectful the wording of axeations, the more power hungry I see a mod behave.

Disrespect leads to being disrespected, but you wont see any evidence except by the low turn out in postings and attendance.

Imho, I think that is the reason these hallow forums have died.
