Oh, and respect. Most important wrong I have seen, is the way threads are axed. On some occations, it seems its like a game, the more disrespectful the wording of axeations, the more power hungry I see a mod behave.

It's hard to keep that ever-present smile on your face after long term exposure of being treated like a mangy dog. And I suspect that's why a lot of mods tend to be snooty. I used to try to be polite and friendly too, but after countless instances of being told to shove my head in another part of my anatomy, or being told to procreate with myself, or so on, half the time for things I had nothing to do with, I started picking up the attitude myself.

I don't mean that as a justification for the behaviour, but rest assured most mods didn't just up and decide to act like jerks "for the lulz".

I agree with that entirely. But if the attitude of society as a whole is any indicator, it seems to me that many people have no interest in respect at all.

i believe that people shouldn't adjust their activities to align with societies' lowest common denominator aaannnnddd to reduce your expectation of everyone because of the actions of some, means that even those of us that remain at a high social standard have to be treated like those who don't

this is the OT and we, as a whole, are the jokers of these forums.... this doesn't mean that we somehow have a lack of respect for those we may mock

But the problem is that both sides, as a whole, are responsible for doing this, even if not every individual does it. Unless both sides mutually stop playing "kick the dog", it won't stop. The reason I'm doubtful of it stopping, however, is because of my countless encounters with people on the internet (much less in RL) that have an "I'll do/say whatever I want and I don't care what anyone thinks about it" attitude, and from my experiences, enough of them running around tends to poison even the most well-intentioned community eventually.

I have learnt a lot here and have built on that in the game, bought it back. I have no idea how well it is doing in the game, if you are playing you are too busy to hang out

as a moderator i'm sure you put up with waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more of the bad and for the most part don't get to enjoy the good
at least not as much as those of us that don't moderate the forum
