Good guide Norr - but regarding the res shield. Gold works a lot better than stone. Gold gets taken in much much higher percentages than other resources. I'm sure you've noticed this when attacking. 50 - 100b gold makes you largely immune to plundering.

You are correct about that I overlooked it. It also depends on the server as well. In ones which stone costs significantly less then 1 gold then stone is really good to have mass quantities of. Servers where players are treb levling and stone is hugely inflated in cost then gold is defintely key. I do a combo of both personally as it better protects the food and wood and iron I find.

Aye I suppose but I'll use my city as an example; currently with 280b gold, 400b stone, 530b food, 115b lumber and 103b iron - if plundered, the load taken is 97% gold.

Nice guide Norr. i like a slightly different troop setup to you guys but as you said its down to the attacker and attacking style.

1.5mil pike? With all those layers in one city you are kinda asking to be meched aren't you?

With an inst arch hero available as you describe I would keep tiny amounts of layers (100K total of pike/sword/warr/workers) so that I don't get stuck not being able to move troops into valleys. Not many people keep lots of ponies in their home cities but if you need pike bombs then you can build them - with an unconverted 10 and a few civil codes/pop raises it's fast enough.
