Thread: Evony Age II Puzzle #1

    Infierno, this is hypothetical, in case you didn't notice. The point of this is for people to show their strategy and tactics and solve a cleverly designed puzzle, not to actually own Atlantis on na99 (that would be pretty cool though). And a 30 member alliance could technically hold 300 HCs, but it is unlikely that they would have that many. And some take Atlantis before they take 16s as well.

    Scoring:

    • Dead Worker: 50 Points
    • Dead Warrior: 25 Points
    • Dead Scout: 100 Points
    • Dead Pikeman: 150 Points
    • Dead Swordsman: 225 Points
    • Dead Archer: 350 Points
    • Dead Cavalry: 500 Points
    • Dead Cataphract: 1,500 Points
    • Dead Transporter: 1,000 Points
    • Dead Ballista: 3,000 Points
    • Dead Battering Ram: 4,500 Points
    • Dead Catapult: 6,000 Points

    WG. I was just thinking about scoring losses and was trying to think about a good way to include resource and troop building cost into the score. Of course this depends on the current resource prices, how limiting your resources are and the level of your attack hero (may not be as critical in ageII). What are you ideas about scoring?

    Right, I made these scores based around the time it takes to train the unit if you have no research and no attack on your hero. Since troops can be insta-built in Age 1, I would primarily base it around resource cost.

    That being said, you would have to get everyone to agree on the cost of each resource. If you're doing some kind of puzzle like this, then you could decide the age of the server, and then observe market prices on similarly aged servers in the real game.

    Or maybe that's part of the puzzle? "You're on a server where lumber is exorbitantly priced at xx.xx. How would you defend?"

    I may not be completely understanding what you mean but, it might be worth trying a bunch of random combos to get an idea of the variance. If the variance is high it would probably be more fair to run each solution a bunch of times with different randoms and take the average. Otherwise, a high variance could allow a solution to look very good by chance.

    It's going to take a few days to simulate this, and like dxter said, it's probably best to run the rand() function a few times.

    I hope these little puzzles continue Wolf, their an awesome way to freshen up on some of the grittier details on battle mechanics, as well as learn many new things. Good Luck tabulating the results, and I hope it isn't causing you too much of a bother!
