I didn't get to see the game as it is Canada Day up here and I was at a friends house...but if any final is 4-0, then the losing team really shouldn't have been there.
Sore loser. Italy had some bad luck, admittedly, but they were second best, by a fair distance.
And isn't the aim in football to score? It is unsporting to attempt to score, seriously? Would you say the same if Italy scored against Spain if they were on 10 men? No.
And just so you know, the referee didn't give that goal. It was the linesman.
It was a stupid decision to put a questionable chielleni on instead of ballzaretti guy , who has been actually excellent for Italy. Based on form that's a stupid choice.
Not sporting to keep attacking when it was 10 men ? That's really stupid logic there , pal. It's a competitive sport not some little league you play . You play to win. If a team went light that would be stupid , wouldint be entertaining.
The chances Italy had were okay , but iker Cassilias had them covered. Ballotelli was not like his old threatening self , they werent looking good .
I don't care about england vs Italy , they played better then England fair enough. They suck as one cohesive national team, but in their own teams their pretty amazing . National /=/ league.
I don't really care about the past competitions that far away , but you're pretty really special if your an Italian fan and accuse other countries of match fixing.
You lost to a better team , in the end that's all that matters![]()
Ugh, I guarantee if Joachim Low hadn't messed with the lineup so much, it would have been Germany against Spain.

Is there any Italy fan seriously complaining about match fixing?
And I was rooting for Italy the underdog. It is what it is, and I am happy for Spain and nice to see them win. I wouldn't have minded a more intense, close game, but when a game is 4-0, its hard to dispute the winners.
Italy played well enough to advance to the finals and deserved to be there, but Spain showed the world how its done.
Heck, if Casillas hadn't made a nice save against Czech, Spain may not have even been in the finals. But, Spain are a good group, and good for them.
Now we have the Olympics! (Sad to see the U.S. out of it though...)
Well that sucked. How many records did Spain break with that win? 5ish? (3 consecutive major tourney wins, Spain Coach winning all 3 different tournaments [uefa euro, uefa champ league, fifa cup] in his career, most goals scored in the final, first ever successful euro title defense, first ever win against Italy in competitive play, anything else?)
As for all this debating going on above, here's my thoughts.
I don't know why you guys are questioning Prandelli's decision to put in Chiellini. The guy said he was good to go. And in case ya'll don't know, he is our best defender. So this nonsense about Ballzaretti starting doesn't hold much merit. It wasn't the coaches fault; Chiellini should've known the condition his body was in and not tried to be a hero.
Motta pulling his hamstring is just plain bad luck. He was the guy Prandelli put on, so his legs should've been fresh. Instead, he goes on, pulls it, and brings Italy down to 10 men... Bad luck, nothing more.
I would've liked to have seen Spain play a little more passively after that. Not sitting on the ball, but not going for the jugular either. They did have a 2 goal and 1 man cushion... You can't blame them for going for the record though. Shame it had to happen through injured Italians, but eh, can't take anything away from their victory. They put it in another gear.
Would've been interested to see the outcome of that game if those 2 hadn't succumbed to injuries. Chiellini never would've let Fabregas walk past him and they wouldn't've gained all that momentum. Not to mention the last 2 goals were pretty meaningless, you could see Italy was tired (Spain's possession intensive strategy & being down a man). Would've been an entirely different game, Italy still being the underdog, and probably a fun one to watch.
The players say it best thoughPure class
I don't think kingdeano was making excuses. But there certainly were/are valid reasons for the lop-sidedness of the result (Covered that last tidbit above).
If the losing team beat the other contenders that could have been there, logically, the others would have lost by more. lolwhatareyousaying? Also, you don't even know the circumstances of the win, why you comment such things bruh?
Doubtful, and i'm not sure how he messed with the lineup. I'm pretty sure his replacements were due to injuries not strategy.

i agree with eric
spain played well but that stats are accually spain had 56% of possession 14(6 on target) shots compared to italy 11 (4 on target) and had an extra man for the last 25 minutes
look back to the group stage these 2 played in one of the best matches in the tournament may have been a 1-1 draw but there was plenty of skill shown and chances created

I couldn't imagine Buffon would concede 4 goals. It must hurt his pride. But nothing wrong with Spain crushing Italy. Show full strength instead of pity is to show respect to your opponents.
2 years until World Cup 2014. I wish Spain will play Brazil![]()

I think that choosing between the aforementioned material (racism, profanity, nazism) and spongebob squarepants is a highly exaggerated extreme.
I think Portugal were the only team that could have beaten Spain they came very close & I could say they played better than them in the semi's.
Germany were good until those reports that one of the players agent was giving out team info to the opposition & those big changes in the line up came few mins before kick off time.
Italy played well & I honestly didn't think they would have got to the finals.
Overall Spain deserved the victory & are the greatest international team of all time
Player of the tournament for me Andrea Pirlo & then Spain's unsung hero Xabi Alonso.
