I'm saying evony is contradicting itself. It charges people OW's, ports etc then charges again to get packs so others can take the heroes that evony has been paid for.
Personally I'm not really a coiner I buy in doubt cents and for when there is buffs. But if we are to look at this from a revenue point of view of evony they are biting the hand that feeds them. They encourage us to spend a fortune building up heroes then have others pay to take those paid heroes lol As I said, I sense a lot of charge backs, and people would be in their legal right to do so. You can't change the dynamics of a game in which people PAY to build their heroes and then not expect them to demand money back.

evony does not have a good rep for spelling out their intentions in black and white to the customer before they make decisions, so from a consumer POV, who knows if they will introduce it permanently? I suspect if it makes $ they will.
As to losing the heroes - broken gates mean you can take a players res, unchallenged. Take the gold, the heroes run. Whether you coin or just do it with sheer hard work, that's not fair that someone can buy a pack, apply it with no actual skill and make your heroes run. Yes anyone can drain your res while you sleep. But if you have good troop counts and open gates they must get through those before they can drain the res. Closing gates means completely negating millions of troops. A hero could be gone in a few hours.
The issue is this doesn't make it a war game, it makes it just about some dude that buys a chest and presses a button, no skill involved. Of course we can already upgrade heroes, buy ports etc, but understanding game dynamics and having a good defence can work even against those that spend with big heroes. Coiners can be gotten around. This can't.Why should you have the ability to defend your city by only the troops locked in the city? The point of these effects is to mix up both defense and offense, it's to make you adapt and form a new manner of defense. You (presumably) have 9 other cities. So, with one city unable to march or open gates, what can you do to formulate a good defense for that city? There's that old saying.. a good defense is a good offense. Or, the more obvious choice for players who spend money: buy your own broken gates effect and either counter or make that offense.
As to the bolded - and this is the dual revenue raiser of this pack. Not only are evony making money off people buying the packs they are then making money off people buying packs in defence in order to remove a pretty much impossible advantage.
