    I'm saying evony is contradicting itself. It charges people OW's, ports etc then charges again to get packs so others can take the heroes that evony has been paid for.

    Personally I'm not really a coiner I buy in doubt cents and for when there is buffs. But if we are to look at this from a revenue point of view of evony they are biting the hand that feeds them. They encourage us to spend a fortune building up heroes then have others pay to take those paid heroes lol As I said, I sense a lot of charge backs, and people would be in their legal right to do so. You can't change the dynamics of a game in which people PAY to build their heroes and then not expect them to demand money back.

    evony does not have a good rep for spelling out their intentions in black and white to the customer before they make decisions, so from a consumer POV, who knows if they will introduce it permanently? I suspect if it makes $ they will.

    As to losing the heroes - broken gates mean you can take a players res, unchallenged. Take the gold, the heroes run. Whether you coin or just do it with sheer hard work, that's not fair that someone can buy a pack, apply it with no actual skill and make your heroes run. Yes anyone can drain your res while you sleep. But if you have good troop counts and open gates they must get through those before they can drain the res. Closing gates means completely negating millions of troops. A hero could be gone in a few hours.


    Why should you have the ability to defend your city by only the troops locked in the city? The point of these effects is to mix up both defense and offense, it's to make you adapt and form a new manner of defense. You (presumably) have 9 other cities. So, with one city unable to march or open gates, what can you do to formulate a good defense for that city? There's that old saying.. a good defense is a good offense. Or, the more obvious choice for players who spend money: buy your own broken gates effect and either counter or make that offense.
    The issue is this doesn't make it a war game, it makes it just about some dude that buys a chest and presses a button, no skill involved. Of course we can already upgrade heroes, buy ports etc, but understanding game dynamics and having a good defence can work even against those that spend with big heroes. Coiners can be gotten around. This can't.

    As to the bolded - and this is the dual revenue raiser of this pack. Not only are evony making money off people buying the packs they are then making money off people buying packs in defence in order to remove a pretty much impossible advantage.

    I'm not confusing anything. I moderate the Game suggestion box and we get suggestions dealing with both defender advantage over attackers and mixing up the game. These items can help make defense challenging for experienced players, it can bring life back into the game. So no, i'm not lumping anything together and i'm not Evony. I've played both games, i've coined, all that.
    It's only 'Broken Gates' I have the issue with. As to why should I have the ability to defend my city with the troops I built, hecky thump, well I thought that was a major part of the game, well what a noob I feel. Drat, well back to the drawing board, seems I have been playing this game wrong for all this time.

    Though I haven't really have I. What a silly, silly statement, that is like saying 'Why should you have the ability to attack my city?' Any good attacker, should relish the idea of going up against a good defender, not that I am saying I am a good defender. Troops are there to be killed. Although I am no where near the -3bil an hour burn lads/lasses, presumably you are and fair play to you if that is so. I like to put up a good fight, even if from a defensive point of view. I am not able, nor stupid enough to take on one of these war cities, nor is the alliance I am in able to as a whole.

    Also, the chances of you getting near to one of these players 'hub' cities is slim. You'd be lucky if you managed to get a spot 15 miles from it and that makes attempting to use this item a waste of time for the small/mid level player. No where have I yet to find a way of moving a one city player, enlighten me if you know something I don't. I am sure there would be many out there who would love to know this tactic. Also there is the retribution angle, which is slightly off putting for the small/mid level player.

    I only have 9 cities in total, I like to play with a free city space to fill flats. Most people who play with 10 cities, have other ways of filling the flats. Most here will know what they are and often raise issue with them. Sadly, due to restricted farming, or restricting another players farming. They are a good distance away from each other and therefore any offensive plans for the 'broken gates' is not really feasible, as any attacks are likely to land after the 1 hour period and the attacker will more than likely have ported by then with the goodies.

    States are often locked, so porting is very difficult. I know this as I ported out a city last night, so an alliance member could get into the state our alliance occupies. Random didn't work, nor did several of the state options. The chances are the states you can get into are often controlled by one player and those he/she says can stay there. So you jump out of the frying pan into the fire.

    So that leaves me with only one option, to spend. Sadly, although I have in the past spent a good deal of money on this game, at the moment I am not in a position to do so, even if I wanted to.

    Oh, I do have one other option and that is to pray to the Gods of Evony, that the wheel of doom will drop me several truces or some coins. Though there is more chance of plating rocking horse dung, than that happening.

    I don't see how 'broken gates' can bring 'life' back in to the game. To be honest the only way to really do that is to merge the servers that are dying a slow death.

    There is also another great saying 'If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It'

    Yup I know what it's like to lose cities and big heroes. One morning I woke up to find myself one city lighter and two 500 attack heroes gone. I had about 1 billion and a half of res stored. The gates where open and I had a full garrison of troops defending.

    What had happened was 3 reds had ported in on me during my night time and wiped me clean. It's a small amount compared to nowadays but it had taken me months to build all that up only to lose it in one night. It was in a safe place I'll made sure all the flats where religiously flipped. One flat filler was all it took.

    So what happened afterwards, did the skies turn blood red, the earth shake and crack, did my pet canary drop down dead off it's perch....no of course not, none of those things happened. I just shrugged my shoulders and rebuilt. It's a game people and part of it is hitting others, killing their troops (although the broken gates things negates that but it requires new tactics). I bet most of you have at some stage plundered players silly and not once given a thought to how they're feeling simply because your're playing a game how it was designed. Now a new angle had been thrown in, maybe have a rethink on how to defend if your're hit with a "Broken Gates" instead of worrying about how much res your're going to lose.

    All I want to know is what could that defensive tactic be??? I am open to suggestions as long as they don't include port, holiday, truce or having the 'broken gates' strat to apply back. I have thought about this and discussed it with friends. We are none the wiser.

    All I want is someone to prove to me, even though I have coined and technically this doesn't apply to me. That a 'free forever' player can defend against 'broken gates' without the above items.

    Of course people lose stuff all the time. The point here is, if I'm online with plenty troops I would like to be able to use them and my gates to defend myself with the attacker facing at least some risk. Glad the canary survived tho

    WHAT HAPPENS AT 5 LOY? do your gates open auto?? what happens at 0 loy?? can someone cap yourcity with troops STILL in it?? can SOMEONE PLS ANSWER THESE SIMPLE QUESTIONS PLS

    MAYBE you guys need to go back and read what we are actually complaining about.

    We want the ability to FIGHT. Forcing gates open is fine, but forcing them closed is a TERRIBLE idea.

    Shocks me how many daft people dont realize that with your gates closed you have no choice but to truce .. or just join there alli and send them your reso -.-

    Of course i and MANY others will be holidaying until this expires, im sure thats what dave and the rest of the evony staff wants though.
    u dont want to just leave ur gates open i want to be able to flip for attacks open right before attacks hits then close right after so he wont scoutbomb me to death or scouts all my scouts away i want the choice




    5 hours to 0 a city (20-30 mins if your good) so they get to riot/refuge/revolt for 4.5 hrs.
    WRONG fast it can be done attacking is 1hr 1/2 once at a sertin point it takes 6min per loy drop

    If you have gates set as open, and an enemy uses this item to close your gates, will your gates re-open after the hour, or do they stay closed?
