    CD gets your ranged killed first and cheaply once your towers are gone...which could be 1-3 waves depending on attacker / troops sent.

    So, terrible D for offline. It shouldn't even be a discussion in Age II where we don't have instant wall heroes unless you have enough non-ranged to make it a very expensive kill for the attacker.

    I actually had a couple friends who are very experienced in battle mechanics on age1 test CD on age2 and the differences in battle mechanics actually meant that, depending on how they set up the CD, it was better than any mech/scout or other 5k def to be used ... course ur right being online is the only way to maintain a CD properly so taht it works as effectively as u plan it to.

    not sure what u mean by "enough" non-ranged ... do u mind quantifying that?

    Sure, a few weeks ago I took out a 30m troop city that was in CD with 150k bally and 3m arch which is nothing on a 2+ year server.

    It really depends on the age of the server. CD's become less and less effective the older the server gets so it's hard to quantify accurately which is why I didn't state numbers. You need to be expensive for the maturity of the server is the best way I can state that I guess.

    In Age II, I don't think there is a way to properly maintain a CD even if online. Once your towers are gone, you are screwed because of the split damage and the hero cap.

    with a CD you can keep your layers at the expense of ranged units, a 5k can be dropped to CD while killing off your layers and risks a smack, but you'll likely kill more enemy troops.

    personally i choose the defense based on the troops im keeping in the city and my current life bonus, if my stars are at 9 i go with a arch 5k and hope nobody kills me... lol. if i got a 12 set i'll keep most of my pikes, swords, warrs, and cavs in CD cities.
    i do keep some mech's in arch cities, but never put them all in 1 place cause of scout bombs lol.

    while online i keep my war city in the 5k and camp/recall layers if need be.
    while offline my main town or active war town, is usually set up with the arch 5k def, with traps qued to build every 30min and layers ready in the rax, qued every 15min or so 30-300 depending on the time the last batch would be done. closest thing to a active defense while offline IMO
    my main town's defense saved a 14 while it was sitting at 0 loy for a few hours .


    it really really depends on your knowledge of battle mechanics and star set. for newbies max traps would probably be best with 300k arch + layers, intermediate players usually mix the CD and 5k between cities. while 14/15 set players like the CD with just enough mechs to kill 30k layers, because of the life bonus their arch would get.

    i doubt there's a "absolutely perfect" offline defense, or if one would be more effective than the other.

    i have a personal favorite im not sharing till they change comforting, so i can fight it
