Default So whats going to happen?

So.. with all servers being offline, what is going to happen?

Lots of troops in AGE I went into refugee, and on NA39 they lost a capital city due to it. This is so unfair. I know it wasnt Evonys fault it went down but something should be done about it.

Somebody in my alliance lost 15bil and 30-40bil gold along with the troops defending the city, due to the fact he could not truce to protect them overnight as the site was down. He was not able to be online when the site came back online.

I suggest the servers get rolled back, its the only reasonable and fair suggestion. A silly compensation package isnt going to do it for me personally.

You're saying your troops were eating food when the servers were offline? That shouldn't happen. Also how did you lose a city while the server was offline? Are you sure the server didn't come online again and these things happened before you logged in?

They did eat food, and we know that for a fact. Perhaps you should double check what was actually going on.

Dawn, that's exactly what we are saying. At least half the people in my alliance lost troops due to refuge, or wall defs, or techs, or builds, or I actually lost resources considering I should have had more built up in the time the server was down, that is actually missing. Evony seriously needs to offer something to fix this. If you think it didn't happen or that everyone is just going to forget about it, they aren't. People are seriously peeved, log into any server and you can instantly see it in World Chat.

While I can't say for absolute certainty that troops were eating food, what I can say is that I ended up losing 12 hours worth of a vesta! I had used a vesta roughly 1am the day before, and sure enough, when the system came back online, that vesta still ended at 1am the day of the outage.

Given the cost of the vestas, that's 12 hours I would have been farming/attacking that I lost because of the outage. Like others, outages happen and we don't blame evony for that. But, we do find the results of that outage unacceptable. The servers should have been rolled back to the last maintenance backup, IMHO, and I would have suggested giving folks free food for at least the day.

Many people play the game around the world. And everyone has different time slots they have to be able to play. Being offline for 12 hours meant many people suffered unfairly for the outage, as they weren't able to process HNMs, manage food, farm for resources, or defend against attacks.

We had a member get a city wiped, and nearly lost, because some people used the outage as an opportunity to launch a major attack the second they could get back online. With the extended outage experienced, many people either gave up waiting (without any knowledge of if/when the systems would be back, it was hard to get online), or experienced varying degrees of success in getting online once the systems were available again.

Hopefully Evony will recognize that while we understand that you can't always prevent outages, you can take steps to ensure that fairness remains as a result of that outage.

Time to stand up for the players for once Evony, and make sure you take care of your paying public...

Both of these posts are ignorant. Why should Evony give things out just because they had issues? It's not their fault, and the only reason they do give out the 'free stuff' is because they don't want to anger the people who play the game. Get over it. You still get to play the game that you want to play.

It's actually NOT ignorant. Your statement is however. There are several things they could have done, such as: resetting the game to prior when the servers went down (they've done so before), having a backup power supply (several companies have generators for just such an occaision), etc.

How is it ignorant to want free stuff?

Ever seen money in the street and not picked it up for fear of being branded ignorant?

You have two choices with this game based on their history....

    1) Get mad every time something goes wrong and ultimately give yourself an ulcer.

    -or-

    2) Take it on the chin and ask for free stuff.

*to do ...think of something funny and clever as a signature.

Let me explain why your response is equally ignorant. The reason why Evony should give out things, or rather, should take steps to provide compensation for their outages involves two basic reasons

    a) Because they offer a product that exists solely due to the contributions and payments of their clients. If people get fed up with poor customer service, they take their money and find a new place to put it. Simple economics, actually. Evony is a business, and businesses typically want to keep their customers happy. Happy customers spend money.

    b) Because many people LOST value by the outage. Yeah, simply being down is not, by itself, a reason to be compensated. Folks are not paid to play the game, so being down does not, by itself, warrant compensation. However, many people did lose paid or realized value because of the downtime. For example, I had a Vesta that, instead of providing 24 hours of game-time relief, only provided roughly 12 hours. As a Vesta costs, effectively, $30 USD to purchase, that is a representative loss of nearly $15 USD in value, not for any fault of mine, but because of Evony. Not because of the outage, but rather, due to their game mechanics that appear to stick by a time-based expiration, and not a running-time based expiration. I didn't get 24 hours of game-time relief, but due to the outage, only 12. Others lost similar 'value' because of the way in which the outage was handled once they resolved the downtime.

Think of it this way. If you go to a movie tonight, and put down $15 for the new Lord of the Rings 3D showing, and the theater experiences a power outage. That, obviously, cannot be helped. Not the fault of the theater. But, do you think you should be compensated for the fact that you paid for a movie you never got to watch? Either receive your money back or a free pass for the next showing you can attend?

This is the reason why Evony should take some action to satisfy their customers...

in the past evony have given out "free stuff" to their players over issues relating to the game in order to placate them. however in spite of a myriad of problems recently, for example server outages, glitchey new items/features in the game, "gifts" that reduce your heal rate instead of the advertised increase. there has been no attempt of late though, to soothe the ever increasing discontent within the community at evony. when was the last time you saw a thread praising the devs/gamemakers or new interesting features? think really hard now.

while granted a power outage is not evonys fault, cities refuging during the downtime is a concern for them and shouldnt be happening.

It's not for you to label players who are experiencing company related issues and possibly paying customers "ignorant" for expecting compensation.
