Both of these posts are ignorant. Why should Evony give things out just because they had issues? It's not their fault, and the only reason they do give out the 'free stuff' is because they don't want to anger the people who play the game. Get over it. You still get to play the game that you want to play.

It's actually NOT ignorant. Your statement is however. There are several things they could have done, such as: resetting the game to prior when the servers went down (they've done so before), having a backup power supply (several companies have generators for just such an occaision), etc.
How is it ignorant to want free stuff?
Ever seen money in the street and not picked it up for fear of being branded ignorant?
You have two choices with this game based on their history....
1) Get mad every time something goes wrong and ultimately give yourself an ulcer.
-or-
2) Take it on the chin and ask for free stuff.
*to do ...think of something funny and clever as a signature.
Let me explain why your response is equally ignorant. The reason why Evony should give out things, or rather, should take steps to provide compensation for their outages involves two basic reasons
a) Because they offer a product that exists solely due to the contributions and payments of their clients. If people get fed up with poor customer service, they take their money and find a new place to put it. Simple economics, actually. Evony is a business, and businesses typically want to keep their customers happy. Happy customers spend money.
b) Because many people LOST value by the outage. Yeah, simply being down is not, by itself, a reason to be compensated. Folks are not paid to play the game, so being down does not, by itself, warrant compensation. However, many people did lose paid or realized value because of the downtime. For example, I had a Vesta that, instead of providing 24 hours of game-time relief, only provided roughly 12 hours. As a Vesta costs, effectively, $30 USD to purchase, that is a representative loss of nearly $15 USD in value, not for any fault of mine, but because of Evony. Not because of the outage, but rather, due to their game mechanics that appear to stick by a time-based expiration, and not a running-time based expiration. I didn't get 24 hours of game-time relief, but due to the outage, only 12. Others lost similar 'value' because of the way in which the outage was handled once they resolved the downtime.
Think of it this way. If you go to a movie tonight, and put down $15 for the new Lord of the Rings 3D showing, and the theater experiences a power outage. That, obviously, cannot be helped. Not the fault of the theater. But, do you think you should be compensated for the fact that you paid for a movie you never got to watch? Either receive your money back or a free pass for the next showing you can attend?
This is the reason why Evony should take some action to satisfy their customers...
A. My post FTW. Because I don't want free stuff, I just want a valid explanation. Is that really too much to ask for?
B. Evony has been terrible lately. For the reasons I mentioned.
A + B = No more spending from me until I know for sure that my "investment" into my account won't be taken or inaccessible at any near point in the future.
Enjoying Evony Retirement.
I don't need free stuff, or the days to roll back, or whatever. All i want is a simple apology. Send it as a simple system mail to every player, explaining what happened. While some noobs want free cents, just please apologize and say you would work on it.
There is a difference between asking for free items because they had issues and asking for them to reset the game to a point prior to when the servers went down. Asking for free items is ignorant because you shouldn't always feel like you need something just to make up for something that happened. However, resetting the server is what they should do to fix this, and I agree with that. Like I previously stated, there is a difference between the twol
You could do one of those options, or you could take a third unmentioned option and just get over it.
They could easily roll back the server to a point before the power outage that they had and it would be like you didn't lose your vesta time that you should have had. This would also make up for the claims of people losing resources and troops due to the power outage. However, this would have needed to be done before they had brought the servers back up, or shortly after, for it to have really been effective. If they try to roll back the server now, they would only receive more complaints because of food and other resources that people have acquired since the server has come back online. Evony needs to have a set protocol in order for these kinds of things, but it doesn't always have to involve compensation packages.
The best thing that Evony could do in a situation such as this is to reset the server to a point before they had said issue, apologize to the Evony community and explained what happened, and then move on with the game.

I understand being angry for not being able to play for 8+ hours but we did get free food. I can confirm that to s171 at least because my 3rd city had 150 mil food with a 1mil/hr burn and when I logged back on I still had 150mil food. I truly am sorry to those who did lose troops, food, anything else, but I think some players are just trying to play it off to get a compensation package. Then again if we did get a compensation package where would that get you? 300 cents? Even if you are lucky enough to get that much that might be 1 promotion 2 tops a week worth of double builds? I'm guessing most of us would blow it on the wheel anyways.
