He had to eventually stop and deal with the real world even after many attempts to login and change his accounts troop movements and such. Maybe he overtyped his 0's and meant 1600? All the same with the massive amount of coining I can see 16,000 vestas being on that account. Ever see guys drop 10,000 in the first 30minutes of a server? Frightening and unbelievable what they do to a server and to their accounts. Seriously, Melri think about the possibilities before you start wrecking the poor fella.
Let me run some numbers for you. If Moats dropped 5,000 in one fell swoop and doubled his vesta count by recieving the same number from a certain someone on my server. That puts him at a near 333.33(repeating). 8,000 hours.
Now, thats just all between him and one person. Lets say the dont click the chests to all alliance members button. Uh-oh. Thats not even accounting the 460 chests I have in my alliance. Considering he could have been gifted many more times with a vesta for 10's he may have given away, possible 10's he may have sold, heros he may have powerleveled and sold, its very plausible for him to hit 16,000 hrs. Even if all of it may not have been within the ToS.

Oh boy, I thought for a moment I've come to a math based forum. Hate to say it but you can claim that you have umpteen vesta's but Evony will only replace the one's applied and were affected by the outage.

I personally think it's shocking the amount of players coming out of the woodwork using an event that's beyond Evony's control as an excuse to 'get what they can'. Y'all heard Dave, fill in a customer service ticket if you had problem with vesta's.

....now how do I get off this soapbox.

Thanks to Infinitus for the epic B'day pressie!

My point was that what's his name mentioned he had lots of hours of vesta sitting there - and then someone immediately jumped to the conclusion that he spent 20,000 bucks to get them. The point was that often times, if you are a cool guy and a good player, you have a lot more vesta's than the actual money you spent.

They sure seem to have a lot of those these days, don't they?

Their excuse would be a little more believable if servers haven't been crashing all month and the forums werent returning a database error for several hours prior to the event.

So, color me a skeptic. Or a cynic. Your choice.

Seriously though, mantaining servers isn't that difficult of an activity.

Now, arguably, nobody reads it, but it is there...and one could argue that, under contract law (here in the USA at least) you cannot have agreed to it because you didn't get an opportunity to read it prior to remitting payment for said ticket, thus there was no 'meeting of the minds' required for a valid contract to exist. To get around this usually there is some language on the ticket which states 'if you don't agree with these terms return ticket for a refund', or something to that extent.

The Evony TOS has never been challenged in court; however, arguably you cannot agree to a contract which is illegal under applicable law. For example, you cannot enter into a legal agreement to kill someone, because the act of murder is illegal, thus nullifying any such contract. Likewise, taking money from someone and not providing them with the service/items they paid for would be considered 'theft' of various degrees, depending on the monetary amount involved, either a felony or misdemeaor under applicable law. It could also be considered wire fraud or mail fraid, depending on payment is remitted. Of course, you have to, once again, get the authorities with the ability to bring charges within the appropriate jurisdiction interested in pursuing such a claim.

When you purchase game cents, Evony has an obligation to provide you with said item. Likewise if you expend the game cents for an in-game item, you have a reasonable expectation to be able to use said item and receive the appropriate value for exchanged game cents. By purchasing game cents, you're not entitled to 100% up-time, because that isn't what you paid for (although, admittedly, there is legal precident to make a saliant argument that system downtime prevents you from using the items you paid for, thus, system downtime is essentially the same as denying you access to the items for which you paid, but I believe the downtime would have to be demonstrably more significant than it has been). First and foremost, as an informed consumer, you should also protect yourself by making any online purchases using a credit-card, where your credit-card company would then become your advocate should your online purchase be less than satisfactory, or you do not receive appropriate value for your purchase.

Obligatory Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, although I do play one on TV, and this legal opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it in game cents.
You went into way more detail then I bothered to go into lol. Having said that, take a look at the TOS for Evony. Matter of fact, I'll make it easy for everyone:

    No Ownership Rights in Account.
NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY HEREIN, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOU SHALL HAVE NO OWNERSHIP OR OTHER PROPERTY INTEREST IN THE ACCOUNT, AND YOU FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT ALL RIGHTS IN AND TO THE ACCOUNT ARE AND SHALL FOREVER BE OWNED BY AND INURE TO THE BENEFIT OF Regan Mercantile, LLC.
    Account Suspension/Deletion.
Regan Mercantile, LLC MAY SUSPEND, TERMINATE, MODIFY, OR DELETE ACCOUNTS AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON OR FOR NO REASON, WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU. For purposes of explanation and not limitation, most account suspensions, terminations and/or deletions are the result of violations of this Terms of Use or the EULA.

Yeah...that right there says that pretty much Evony can do whatever they want, whenever they want to whoever they want, regardless of what you "purchase" and it belongs to them - you have no recourse. Again, I'm not a lawyer, so I'm sure there are holes in it. But for the most part...yeah.

Yes, this is standard boilerplate language. By creating an account, you are not effectively creating an item which could be considered personal property.

    Account Suspension/Deletion.
Of course, they can suspend you at any time. Or ban you permanently. It's their server. None of which negates your rights as a consumer, or voids the consumer protections afforded to you when you make online purchases using your credit card.
