While I do think that Evony did in fact have some information taken, it could have been the fault of the player. Here are my reasons for both:
Players Fault:
There are real simple, but effective ways of being hacked and never know it. For example, you can be infected just by viewing a photo. Let's say that someone shows a battle report. At first, you think that it is harmless, when in fact, there is a Key Logger/IP Catcher virus encoded in it. It is simple to spread, looks harmless and deadly. This would explain how only individuals(Not everyone) were hacked, as it is unlikely that everyone will view it and the creator will be able to do whatever he wants with the account info.
Not everyone was affected(at least not yet), so that means that the theory of a possible database of accounts on Evony's end being hacked is not likely.
Evony was hacked:
The fact that accounts were being changed while players were on points out as a hack. If it was a player-player(Hacker goes on each account manually to zero the account, instead of using coding to) hack, it would kick the player off(Unless someone at this point hacks into Evony to disable this feature) when the hacker tried to log on. However, by what the OP said about waiting to see who is hacked the next day does in fact make it seam like it is a player-player hack, and the feature was in fact disabled.
Server bug theory:
I personally feel that it is either a coding error, or a hacker error that is somehow doing this. The only possible explanation I can think of is that somehow the "Reset" coding has for some reason(Could be a hacker) started being executed on some accounts.
Also: No, Evony is in no way secure, by even basic standards(It is about secure as an iPhone being Jailbroken). That does not mean, however, that it was a hacker.
Conclusion: It is possible that Evony was attacked, but there is not enough proof. Best way to find out would be to see if Evony could trace the IP address of your loggs(Or anyone that was attacked). However, they probably would want the owners permission before they invest time and effort, costing them more money, and if the person was hacked, they how do they know they are talking to the real owner? This is critical because giving the IP address of the owner to a possible hacker can give away where the owner lives, and if a hacker has that info they could harm them... etc etc, and Evony could be sued and closed(Not a smart idea).
