Thread: Evony Community Active Once More?

  1. #21

First time posting on forums. I had played a few years back, but couldn't seem to find my forum username. Then tried to create a new one and got no e-mail back, so I gave up on it, until coming across this thread. I like the idea of a system e-mail as I am sure many people who tried re-registering or registering got frustrated and just never tried again. Cheers

But I will do the best I can to advertise and post daily reports/Threads where I can when I can to keep things active and healthy.

    The active days shall return!

CHH - That's a concern, and I think my mod staff is briefed appropriately at this time on how to handle that.

All the rest of youse guys, I think sending out a forum link in the system mail is a good idea, I'll see about getting one done here soon.
If you are going to do this I have a few suggestions to add.

    1. Cut out those 80 other informative locations and centralize to just the forums

    2. Revamp the forums with a few new categories

    3. Make some new positions on the forums if possible ( like Game Masters). These positions would be players who are very knowledgeable in the ways of the game to lead training threads and answer players questions in a positive manner.

Good Noticed there has been better control over annoying hate posts

Does Forums really need more categories? Pretty good as it is tbh
New positions could be good, but they have to be correct, like a Game Master wouldn't really work for a number of reasons imo. But what I think forums would benefit more from is more active evony representatives and mods. These days I only see dave, ssf and surefire. Think the forums would greatly benefit from more, particularly with more members joining forums. Looking at site leaders is a lil depressing; says the admin here hasn't logged in since 2011.What happened to Dawnseeker btw?
Glad the group mail idea is proceeding, a very easy way which could get the active number up here

Yeah I don't disagree with this. Dave seems to be really active lately tho and definitely picking up the slack. Sent him a few mails today and he responded very quickly.

We don't need more mods yet. Don't need 1 per person frequenting the forums lol.

In my opinion, we need to open up the forums to the player base, and bring fresh blood in. A lot of us old school 2009 players have left the game or take extended breaks quite frequently.

We need to open up the forums to new players as a place to learn, as well as invite current and long time players to actively make suggestions, and try to help the evony team by putting their honest input into positive threads on the forums.

I haven't always been the most positive person on here, but old school Buzz is back and coming to 186 with some big plans for my return to the game

    Elaborate on the first two.

The role of Historic Poster is essentially what you describe as Game Master. I'd prefer if the title went back to Forum Guide rather than Historic Poster though.

The forum, at this level of activity, honestly doesn't need more mods, not yet anyways. It could use another rep, but that's my personal opinion, not one as a mod.

One of the biggest issue of the forums being a learning environment is that there's not really anything that can be brought to the table in terms of new ideas. The battle mechanics have mostly been figured out and discussed over and over, and most of the other topics have guides. Actively making suggestions and discussing them though, would be excellent. I'd love to see the entire Off Topic section thriving again.

    Thanks for the sig, acer

IIRC there is a forum button in the shop section, however I believe when you actually open your browser every time (Have a do not show me this again button) there should be a pop up saying something like "Hey! Check out our official forum! Many guides blah blah blah" Then a button to click on it again.

    Most people either:

    A) Aren't aware of it's existence
    B) Saw the forums, saw that it had 500 active members where as the website says 18 million therefore thought "Lol, inaccurate, no ty, money scammers."
    C) Just don't care about the forum at all as there are a million different websites/documents where they can go for help.

However it would be extremely beneficial to do what I said above if you want the forum to be more active, or even post every 12 hours in a system message, "Check out our official forum! Click link here!" In the game chat.

Another thing to consider is that when I look to see who's looking at the forums, there are always over 100 guests. it might be worth telling people its easy to register, no spam emails etc.

Posting Every 12 hours will just get players annoyed and might not join

So right! Although there is nothing bad with historic poster really

With the amount of members posting on forums these days I guess 2 mods is enough, but I think its pushing it a little. If more people were to join we will need more. I was thinking, if only one (very good) evony rep is active, why should normal members be? I think at least 75% of the reps should be active tbh, even if they don't post much

Then maybe its time for some freshness to be brought into evony... Perhaps an update on troop stats (lower/higher attack ratings) Or even bring in some new troops/npcs all together. Evony age 2 have all these NPC 14 or some what lol Why cant evony age 1 have some thing similar to bring a new goal towards people who still play

ikr, He does it all the time (ive edited quite a few myself)

    On topic:

Id love to see more people posting. "when i was a forum whippersnapper" I never had to leave the Server section of the forums, and could get a convo any given day, Now days id be lucky to get a reply there once a month. People dont rely on the forums as much anymore, Partially cause there is a LOT less bugs then there used to be, partially because of the aforementioned reasons, and mostly cause 90% of people arn't interested at looking at the forums, either believing them to be useless now (Since there are NO game guides remaining outside of the archives, something ive disliked for quite some time) or because of the lack of posts in general.

a lot of the reasons many of us joined was because of major bugs or problems, now we dont have that issue, so we are relying on peoples wanting to chat in an era where "the downtime between farming runs" is not really an issue for 99.99% of the gaming public (Holiday and such)

while forums like battle reports - Its all been done. There is nothing truely new to bring to the table in that respect, unless you slightly outdo the largest current kills, cause your hero is 200 levels higher then the previous record holder to kill an extra 50k troops, Forums like OT still have room for lots of fun, The Servers sections is mostly useless now, Apart from mabey age 2, Which still sees a few hardcore posters regularly, age 1 is just collecting dust and a lot of classic threads that exist mostly cause i refuse to unstick them and let the section die totally. (180 thread, UP2DATE state control thread that turned into a battle reports show off, Transbomb thread) even the mighty songs from the feasting halls thread finally got archived a while back, One of the few threads ive actually had people complain about it missing even thou it was inactive for months since Mabs stopped posting.

Its not just up to fresh blood to make these forums live again, Its up to the remaining posters too. Make threads That people WANT to read, and they will come, a trickle at first, but word of mouth got this forum alive once, Im sure it can do it again. Plus enough smack talk, Ego boosting and Enough drama to write the next 200 seasons of Home and Away will bring viewers every smeggin time.
