Default Business perspective to coining in Evony

I wanted to open new thread basically, this is long post, related to many glitches and in general to Evony attitude.

I recently read few posts from motivated (0 usd) players, justifying Evony's game issues, saying "it's just a game" or even saying "some ppl always cry" they are never happy anyway... basically blaming players for not accepting whatever game issue or Evony decision they might have had to accept.

Now I really wanted to think in business way, customer centric, stakeholder centric, money based way.

It's not “only a game” - if people pay so much for whatever in-game items. I hear players pay from 500 usd up to 10K usd a year on the server where I played. Once money is invested, regularly, and amount becomes significant, accountability of Evony grows seriously - and as I see Evony acting horribly and immature. I guess that's only part of Evony which is truly a game - being irresponsible towards its own players/sponsors/stakeholders.

Let's me quickly summarize Evony issues, because we need to classify what is issue and what isn’t and who is here really in position to propose anything….

    So issues are:
    - Loosing game items, buffers, vestas (e.g. after merge) – items that were paid!
    - Accounts being hacked, no means to bind IP addresses with payments and recovering accounts
    - Can't detach/attach old/new (expired) Facebook account
    - Can't change game login email (secondary email is a joke)
    - Facebook way too often not working, can't post or click HNMs so I loose resources - for which i have actually paid by buying vestas, holidaying account to preserve it; as you see all costs real money.
    - Deleting excessive troops – Oops, did I pay for them? Return players money they invested, or simply put max number of troops so people clearly know what is maximum. Anything else is theft.
    - Replacing HHs with Legendary Heroes. – Nope – Legendary Hero can be dismissed and lost and never be found again (not listed in Inn). Not good compensation for what we had before.
    - Support never answers tickets, at least not mine – so just remove support or say “support only for non coiners”
These above issues are things I have been paying for. I want resources all the time, I want my super heroes, I want lots of troops and I did pay whatever game requested and offered to reach my objectives.

    Not important issues:
    - People find a glitch for something - As long as I get what I want for my money, I am happy. If someone finds easier way, good. Evony should eventually compensate paying customers for allowing non-loyal competition.
    - Referring to marching speed glitch – well they stacked many fleet feets, they must have coined a lot, no? Let’s not be so pathetic..
    - Troop Glitch, Evony should be giving us troops for what we spent here. Deleting is yet another guesswork and theft again.
    - Multi-tap – was savvy for everyone, only occasional players who couldn’t farm NPC10s reached out to tell Evony to deny it.
    - People multi account – No one cares, everyone does multi-account - it’s giving benefit to everyone equally, Evony gets coins, we get troops. Deuce.
    - People are coining and recalling to lock out enemy player – due to lack of returning hacked account, it’s the only way of locking your hacked account one loses. What else did you expect?

    Summary is:
Issues are issues when they offend money at first place, not when some weekend player complains about it. Players who don’t invest anything doesn’t lose anything (I like killing them in the game). But seriously, they should go to Farmville, and set this forum free their over-simplifications and pathetic “everyone is equal” justice. No it’s not.

Evony, congratulations for loosing so many coiners by listening crap that you find in this forum. Well done. Yes, and go on deleting troops that looks excessive for some player who plays occasionally and spends nothing. Excellent selection of customers! Yay – thanks good I don’t work with you in RL.

Facebook is down again… lost my resources despite of vesta… can’t believe no one is fixing real issues.

Sums up Evony Customer Service ...

They don't want to actually fix the issues, that might require some brain power. I also look at the money I have spent on this game as purchases of virtual goods. I play other games, Guild Wars for example. My account got hacked there once in over 8 years. It was restored in less than 24 hours of submitting a support ticket. Any issues are dealt with quickly. They have developers playing the game and actually talking to other players, they are active in the community. What do Evony do? Ignore their customers. Ignore hackers & cheaters, demand payment for goods that don't exist or are not delivered, delete items from players accounts, ban players without correctly investigating the issue(s). This is rediculous and should be against international law. It is up to us to ensure our accounts are secure, but surely it must be up to them to ensure that the game they provide is safe and secure. That our data and especially our bank details and transactions are secure.

It's a dead game, I really don't know how much man power you expect them to put into it... I mean, take Dark Age of Camelot, for example. I've played it sense 2001 when it came out. There were about 2-3 thousand, if not more, people per server. And there were at least 50 servers. service was AMAZING up until ~2009. In 2009 There was 2-3 server clusters (equivalent to super servers here i suppose) with 500-1000 player on each. Horrible customer service. No more ingame CSR support. Patches few and far between... And now, in 2014, one server. 2000 people online during primetime. No service whatsoever.

It's the way it is. They can not afford to put the work into it they were putting in 3 years ago, Evony had what, 10 million accounts in it's prime? Just look at the forums.. Max users at one time was over 24 thousand... now we're lucky to hit 200... and 198 of them would be guests.

Before you get all baby rage mad at me for whatever you decide I just typed, I don't agree with it. But not agreeing with something doesn't make it not the truth.

    True words :P
Evony was big at one point, back when age 2 originally came out
but no one wants to play a game that has SOOO many bugs and glitches. It's a wonder Tycoon or wtf ever the name is came out alright. Basically its this way:
Coiners take advantage of being coiners obviously, and they take advantage of glitches, but rarely do they get banned (xept for occasion money recall or bot ban), but when non-players use a glitch, like the most recent troop glitch, they get banned. Evony doesnt care about its game, they'll get money untill it dies off, and just make a new game. Thats what they did. What do you think Tycoon was? A game for ppl to spend MORE money, and its probably pretty big atm, but im not sure i dont play it. All in all, the coiners rarely get punished and the free players do. I think evony should start looking at the coiners before the non-coiners, because the coiners find glitches and bugs first, and abuse them. I admit, if I find a bug or glitch, i'll use it. Ban me if you want, but its the truth. I wont tell any1 obv, but i certainly wont abuse it. Take for example of the last troop glitch (i was on my quit for it thank god) I would of used it to produce troops i woulda of gotten if i hadnt quit. I went from 2-3mil arch and a kick ass 12 on na45, to my main city and 0 troops on Ca4. I woulda used it to get 5-10mil arch and some mech and then be done with it just to catch up, but some players on Ca4 abused it, and I have names of 1 major abuser, but probably a whole alliance im guessing, but evony wont do anything cus i guarentee that alliance spends a good $1000+ every month or so unless a Forum dev saids something about it. I think evony should look at the coiners about exploits first, and then non-coiners and ban those who abuse it.
and @ recalling. If you see random cents, DONT USE THEM. Evony wont give you free cents without either 1) sending SERVER mail, or 2) posting it on the news. This game is to dead to whine and complain about stupid simple ****. Yeah people cheat, yeah people bot and use alts, but thats 99% of the server. You cant stop it. There's even youtube videos of bots, so get over it, pull up your big boy pants, kick some ass, take names, and dont wine. On Ca4, my alliance from na45 has tons of troops (without exploit) but one of our reds has 40mil+ lista in his 16 becus of the glitch, but we're not complaining and he's damn near dead. If you know what your doing, you can overcome those who coin or use glitches.

    They are separate issues.

I refused to use the troop glitch, those who did and have been caught, well what else did you expect?

But taking advantage of a security hole in the game to directly get another players account banned simply because you could not beat them is another matter. That speaks to me of an issue that deserves investigating. If should be fairly easy to review the transactions in question to find out to whom was the vesta given? That should be a giveaway as to who the culprit is.

It does not matter that the game is alive or dead, or that there are x number of players on the servers or the forums. Evony as the game developers have a legal obligation towards the accounts and money transactions to ensure the safety of its clients accounts, our data and in particular our financial information. They have not done this, and their standard response of "give us our money", is just not good enough.

Please enlighten me then. What personal financial information is at risk? What legal obligation do they have to ensure the security of an account that does not belong to you? Was I incorrect in my assumption that the people in question use their own credit cards for this particular form of abuse?

On what basis do you make the statement that it should be against international law? On the basis that you don't like it? That it's unfair? Now, if I'm wrong, tell me. Because as far as I know, there is nothing personally compromising on a recent payment tab. Furthermore, if I am wrong, before you try and rub it in my face, I suggest you contact your lawyer and get the legal ball rolling.

I never disagreed that it was against the rules. That is not what I asked. I asked on what basis can you make the statement that it should be against international law. Breaking game rules is not against the law. Being a bad company is not against the law. Being incredibly incredibly stupid, however, should be.

I don't need the definition of abuse. No court in the world would call your inconvenience abuse. In order for it to be an abuse OF YOU, the account has to belong TO YOU. But even if you prove it's a slight against you personally, it isn't abuse. They charged back their own money. It isn't theft. It isn't anything that can be prosecuted under any anti-hacking laws. Is it harassment? A case could be made, but that's a stretch.

What happened here? Someone logged in to your account (without hacking it) and bought game currency. And then they charged that purchase back.
Logging into the game is not illegal. Buying cents is not illegal. Charging back said cents is not illegal.

Now, because you said it, I have to ask again. What LEGAL obligation does Evony have to ensure the security of an account that doesn't belong to you?

Because you won't answer that question, I'll ask you this. What do you propose Evony does, aside from fix it? Before you say ban them... Ban who? The only offense that can be proven was committed, as far as they can tell, was by you. I suppose they could trace the IP. But that doesn't prove it wasn't you. I could go so far as to say this is all an elaborate hoax that was fabricated to rob Evony, and you would be very hard pressed to prove me wrong.
