as mega said, the major issue is as soon as one side gets bogged down into the "Settling" stage of a server both sides bleed players for whatever reason (Personal, new server opens, ect) this leads to new servers not having much for a lifespan. If you bleed 3-4 players a month within 6 months its like 10 people left in a top 10 alliance, minus those who buy the accs of those who are leaving.
On every "New" server Ive played i was sick of it withing 6 months so i understand why it happens, I stick around ss38 because its nostalgia and my team keeping me here more then anything else these days but with new servers i dont have that "family" feel that Dacia has on ss38. That kind of relationship only happens with time, so new servers never form that bond. instead of a team its a bunch of lone wolves. This leads to no real loyalty to your group so selling off your acc isnt a hard thing to do should something come up.
Hundreds of alts have always been unnecessary. I can only think of one reason to require more then maybe 10 accs, and that is you are supporting your alliance with extra resources. I might show lenience to those who run multiple war accs but realistically that is only for the very extremely active attackers of which i can name one person who fits that description.
