The GAU-8 is a rotary machine gun, or 'minigun', not a railgun. Railguns use magnets to propel the bullet/shell out of the gun.

Well, first once word gets out, gather a big group, but not too big so we'll be able to conserve food. We all go steal guns from a gun store, preferably rifles or shotguns. Once we have ammunition we go hijack a whole bunch of semi-trucks. Also, we sneak into Wal-Mart at night when it is closed and steal a bunch of food and supplies. We use half of the semis to store food and supplies, while the other half is used as barracks and tactical headquarters. We then go find a nice place where we can park the semis, probably a Wal-Mart loading bay. We lock every door and window in the Wal-Mart and reinforce them with anything we can find, possibly fences from the Home Depot. We wouldn't just put them there, we would weld them into place. We would use the outdoors and athletic department for training, and use trash for target practice. At night we sleep in the back of the semis incase the zombies find a way in. The back of the semis will be locked shut. We basically just stay there until the zombies are killed by the army or whatever. If we run out of food we'll go raid the Cub Foods or Finest Foods store.

I think Milos plan sounds very reasonable. PLUS if you run out of ammo you have shovels, hammers, screwdrivers, batteries, Hedge Clippers, Basically a melee armory in Home Depot.

Its simple really. I live in a gated apartment complex with 3 story buildings.

As soon as a single zombie was heard of, I would gather the community and have teams begin removing any access to the 2nd stories of any buildings. I would than have them construct bridges accross to each apartment building so that we may be able to help one another. While one team was doing that, I would send another team out to raid every gun supply store within a 10 mile radius of our location, than once that was done, have the entire complex go out and raid all the food stores within a 5 mile radius, bringing all the supplies back to our complex, I would than set up groups of "patrol men" whom would walk the rooftops, these men would have military/riflemen backgrounds and able to shoot well enough to not waste ammo, this way they can pick off any and all zombie threats. Having the teams cycle every 6-8 hours.

While we had the time, I would have people remove any gas/fuel from the surrounding cars, if possible, into tanks that would be scattered around the complex(because putting ALL the gas in one spot is just idiotic) in order to avoid a massive explosion.

There are other minor things I would also do, but this is the outline of it. Keep this up till military arrives or we are forced to move on.

Although your plan is sound and logical, it is just a bit frightening that you've thought this out in such extreme detail. ROFL

My zombie plan is simple....start running, trip whoever is running next to me, use the distraction to get to safety. Safety, of course, is wherever Shinigami lives! I'll bring toiletries, cause you forgot the toiletries and I will NOT live in a zombie-surrounded community for years without shampoo.
