Thread: Importance of Range: Explained

one thing i wanted to point out to make your range chart more effective is that you might be calculating the increase in range incorrectly. you are doing it so that the 5% increase is done in one lump, but if the game increases ranges every time you upgrade than each 5% increase would actually be larger.

archer range of 1200 with lvl 10 archery, by your method, would be calculated:
    1200(1+0.5)=1800

but if it is recalculated with each level increase the lvl 10 range would be:
    1200(1+0.05)^10=1954

    a considerable difference.

True, but that is why - if at ALL possible - one monitors the battle, opening the gates ONLY after the first wave or two of attackers reaches the city walls. This not ony saves your own troops from engaging large numbers of enemy troops, but also allows wall defences (such as roll logs) to soften the enemy numbers considerably - without any effect on one's own troops!!

I agree with your logic and math. To accurately calculate the actual range, 5% must be added to EACH level, not merely adding 45% to the base for Level 9 Archery - for example. Yes, a considerable difference - and most useful. Thank you for being dilligent and posting for all of us!!

My tests indicate the opposite. You get the same 5% bump to base on each upgrade, i.e., it's not exponential... its linear.

Very nice guide and layout. Easy to understand. I instantly subscribed to this thread so I could show it to my Alliance members.
