Naw, it takes, according to my own personal experience, approximately nine months to get fat. And about 4 years to lose the fat. Sigh.

lol did you actually read the 600 page book? in all honesty its a very effective and healthy diet.. almost identical to the south beach diet which basically ripped it off and made it into a simpler format.

I've read the book, and although it makes a good case for the whole insulin-resistance thing, you have to understand the things it chooses not to address. For example, the first two weeks doesn't allow you take in sufficient potassium, but excess quantities of sodium, which leads to an electrolyte imbalance that is a recipe for heart attacks even in young healthy people. Also, it doesn't address the fact that when you lower your carbs so severely you cause a whole lot of other chemical processes to kick in that will MESS YOU UP. I absolutely agree with cutting out processed foods and white flour and such, but it was simply too carb-restrictive in its original form to be healthy. I haven't read the revised one, and I heard they added in more whole grains and fresh fruits to fix these issues, but I am still wary of it.
