Back to the fun range formulafrom what I can see you have it pretty much bang on
testing for sure I guess would require you sending catapults one at a time against a city just to make sure they take 2 turns to get with in range of trebuchet
while I do believe damage occurs at the same time
Movement does NOT
i think things have movement prioities..
this can be seen best with the catapult
as you say its the slowest and only thing that doesnt pass the 100 paces beyond also I do believe movement priorties might be based on range(guessing unmodified but again needs testing) this I will have to do some testing on but whats the point of moving forward if something is going to come within your range
that being said Proof.
we all know that things can move and shoot ie scout running across battlefield in one turn and killing something
exercise 1
1 warrior vs 1 catapult
1 turn
movement
1. warrior sees nothing so moves 200
2. catapult sees warrior so stays still
attack happens same time
warriors sees nothing so stands and catapult kills it
excercise 2
1 catapult vs 1 catapult
2 turn
movement
1.catapults dont see so move
attack
catpults still dont see anything so hang out
movement
1.catapults dont see so move
attack
catapults see each other and kill
all what we have seen before except priorty movement
exercise 3
1warrior,1catapult vs 1 warrior,1catpult
3 turns
movement
1.warriors see nothing so move 200
2.catapults see warriors so stay still
attack
warriors see nothing
catapults bomb warriors
movement
1. dead
2. catapults see nothing so both move up 80 (now 160 closer to each other but still out of range)
attack
nothing
movement
1.dead
2.catapults see nothing so move ahead
attack
catapults see each other and kill
now you might go back to the hard to hurt seige engines so
exercise 4
ridiculous amounts of warriors vs 1 catapult
9 rounds
I wont go through the heyday of funness but if both moved on round 1 it would only take 8 rounds for warriors to reach a catapult
assuming 100+1500/2 per side we get a fun starting range of 1700, catapult moves on first round 80 and through 8 rounds of movment+range we get to 1620 for the warriors unfortuantely the catapult didnt move so the warriors need the 9th round to travel the last 80
this can be seen again on archers vs melee units
workers to archer 7 rounds (as the warriors only moved 180 the archer couldnt see them so closed the gap) Note this as its important for last example
warriors to archer 7 rounds (should be 6 if archer moved)
pikes to archer 5(again 4 if archer moved on first round)
swords to archer 5(should be 4 if archer moved)
finally just to prove the point
1 archer vs 200 workers and 1 warrior
8 rounds(as opposed to the 7 it took the workers to reach the archer alone)
first round
workers move
warriors move
archers see warriors so stay put
second round
workers move
warrior dead
archer sees workers so stays put
warriors only make it to 1260 paces with a range of 10 by round 7 since the archers started 1400 away and never closed gap they now must spend an extra round running before they can hit something
walla
priorty movement now you get to figure out what moves first. and I appologize for how long it was
