Well i have a post on Server 4... I used 90K cavalry vs lvl10 walls (10.5K ATs) was on round 11 and had killed almost everything but the ATs on the wall I almost thought the cavs couldnt hit the towers or something... well now i understand. lvl10 Walls with 16K ATs well you'll probably need at least 20K ballistas to touch. If they have open gates and 30-40K archers well you need at least 2 waves and you'll probably loose 20K ballistas... The game devs are mad... Never mind the bases where people have 210K or more archers....
I know it's all a frustration but what you need to appreciate is, if you attack me and lose, you are out a week. If you attack me and win, I am effectively removed from the game. We hear about the argument, this was the intention but I really don't think it was. While it's PvP and open ended PvP (If it wasn't I wouldn't be here - I hate arena PvP) There still need to be checks and balances to hold a player base. For now, folks who can't beat walls 10, wait. The Management and development will come up with something. We can't play a game that ejects the population. It's a dead end road.
I'm done trying to explain this to people. I do appreciate the agrument folks are making. Right now PvP can't be performed at the Alpha level. Untill they can prevent the player bleeding, it needs to be that way though. I know, it doesn't protect the noob. It protects the Alpha players. They are really the last that are left here and if it gets set back, they will be cut in half. It's not even about recruiting noobs now, it's about hanging on to what they have.
Look, if someone puts the time and effort into building a cohesive defense, then they deserve to withstand major attacks. Doo u really expect to bring down a city that someone took weeks/months to build in 1 attack? come on and get real!!!!! U have to find another way around - think underhand tactics, take out his weaker cities and/or capture his lakes,swamps, and grassland in order to starve his soldiers - that may work. Eventually if u keep attacking, any defense will fall. Just takes more than 125K archers. Maybe if ervyone in ur alliance kept attacking u might have slowly killed off his defenders and led him to defeat? but dont complainn that u didnt take over a city like that in 1 attampt comeon - he put alot of work into that, i give him credit!

Again, that is flatly incorrect. In fact, that only applies to newbies, not players at the 'alpha level'
Players at the alpha level have 10 cities. Players at the newbie level have 3 or 4. Unless a player at the alpha level is totally doofy and has all their cities within 15 miles of each other, it is almost impossible to take all of someone's cities in a day or two, as they will be spread out and at least some of them will be deep in alliance territory.
Newbies on the other hand will have their cities packed close together, without alliance territory depth to protect them.
Besides, Players at the 'Alpha level' were effectively invulnerable before the wall patch.
So your rationalization for the necessity of the wall patch has nothing to do with Evony. The people who were invulnerable before didn't get any added protection from the wall patch, and for the most part didn't require any check and balance to ensure they were not put out of the game.
Newbies, who were not invulnerable and could have used some sort of protection, got totally shafted because they became the only viable targets of people with huge armies.

I think there needs to be some balance found.. A way for newer players to have some ability to survive attacks, but not make the defense game so unbalance that there isn't any point in attacking anybody but newer players.
I'm not an "Alpha Level" player, will never make any claims to that title. However I do have an understanding of how the game works and I enjoy PvP. If I were to get wiped out, I'd not quit the game. I'd attempt to re-build and learn from the mistakes I made. But that's because I've been playing awhile and I've learned the mechanics of the game.
However, you may not be able to expect the same out of a pure newbie who hasn't done so. I think in many cases, when one of them gets wiped out- they don't understand why and they'll quit.... It's not their fault. It's also not directly the fault of the person who pummeled them. It's the fault of the game devs doing programming that throws things out of balance.

Ya know, I'm pretty sure it's still possible to attack. based on the few (very few) battle reports with mass rams, If you were to field say, 60k rams to meat shield for 40k ballista. You might possibly be able to win a battle against 100k archers. The last battle I saw, had 10k rams covering 60k ballista. the attackers lost, but they bled a fair amount of defenders in the battle.

10k Rams: 40,000,000 food
60,000,000 lumber
15,000,000 iron
6,850,000 seconds (with 168 attack hero)
100k Scouts - Cost:
100k scouts 1,200,000 food
2,000,000 lumber
1,500,000 iron
160,000 seconds (same hero)
I'll use server 2 market prices to reduce resource costs to gold
Food .55
Lumber .47
Iron .399
Time - Priceless
10K Rams - 56,185,000 gold
100K Scouts - 2,198,500 gold
For the price of those 10k rams you could have made 25 groups of 100k scouts in less time.
25 groups of 100k scouts should be able to knock back ~500k archers.
I agree with your numbers, but I'd like to see someone succeed in scout spam attacking, and winning. If only because I've had 100k scouts scout bug against someones walls before, and they cost me -600k honor worth of units. I think they may have killed less then 3k units total.
