Okay. A bunch of guys hijack four planes, fly two of them into the WTC, one into the Pentagon, and one is taken over by the passengers and crash-lands.

Now, this is taken as an act of war, which is ludicrous. The hijackers were citizens of several Middle East countries, but they were NOT part of the armed forces and NOT operating under their countries' direction. Did we declare war on Korea because of the Virginia Tech shootings?

The government decides to invade to secure the oil supplies, which are in the hands of extremists, but they realize that their argument is incredibly flimsy. Hence, the WMD scare.
