Default It could have been much worse

If many of you think about it.. it could have been a full banning of accounts let alone the prestige drop..

    Banned for what?

Playing the game using the mechanics and rules developed by Evony? They let the Prestige gain occur in the way they designed their game. Why is that the fault of other people?

    Rights regarding the accounts

All accounts, including their resources, units, etc. are virtual objects of the game and are property of EVONY.COM. The user does not have ownership or any other rights to the account. All rights are reserved by EVONY.COM. No rights, in particular exploitative rights, are assigned to the user. It is prohibited to sell accounts or resources, or to make any other profit by leaving accounts or resources to third parties, without the written permission of EVONY.COM. EVONY.COM may decide, at its discretion, to terminate membership, confiscate virtual resources and gold, delete account, or block IP address to prevent or punish the breach of the above mentioned regulations.

With this said .. The owner of the game has a right to do whatever they want or please.. We play the game.. you find an exploit you report it as you never know that big brother can be watching..

    Default And?

    So?

I'm saying why would Evony ban someone because they used a rule/mechanic loop hole that they caused?

It might say that they can. Just like they might decide to ban/nerf everyone whose name starts with an 'F'. Just because they have a clause saying they can do it doesn't mean they should do it.

Evony has taken the moral high ground by labelling these players as cheats, I am merely pointing out that they only have themselves to blame and using those players who found a loop hole as scape goats is spurious in the extreme.

BTW I wasn't one of the Prestige losers, I just object to the way this company is treating its customers.

Did people who abuse this mechanic not spawn endless threads on how they feel cheated on their prestige? No. Only a few threads were made.

I will tell you one thing, if you weigh prestige so highly. A lot more players were affected by the few that chose to exploit then the other way around.

Have you played any other online game before? Exploits are subject to the company's decision and what they choose to do is their way. I've seen far worse done by companys with a SUBSCRIPTION based system.

I'm happy this was done. The only people I few bad are the ones that did not cheat and got their prestige taken away.

OK so this is a free game where basically you do not need to pay to play, some pay but that's from them saying they do.. A customer is a onetime thing you pay for 1 service you are not a repeat customer until you pay for more.. We are players of a site that say that this is a free game.. Bottom line is some players messed up, they knew they messed up yet they continued to hit the exploit.. This game is still new and they will have a few things that we as normal headed players would and or should report as a bug.. Many of us did report the bug but the DEV team did need to see if it were true. How many site have you played that you can exploit something and not be targeted for compensation?

    Hey pony,

No, actually this is the first online game, so I guess I'm on a steeper learning curve than others as to how they treat players/customers.

I didn't lose Prestige, I didn't participate in the so-called exploit. I am baffled though as to the apparent outrage from Evony that this happened. I can't believe they would take the moral high ground on an issue they are 100% culpable for, by making it that way in the first place.

I'm glad they fixed it. I don't particularly care about prestige anyway, in fact it might have been good to lose some because then I might attract attacks.

With so many bugs and other unresolved issued in game, I'm frankly astonished at the over-reaction to this issue by the dev's.
