Exploits are abusing the game mechanics. If it were not what the developers created, then it would be labeled as a cheat which usually involves third party software. Developers make mistakes at times whether it be terrain that can be abused to get an advantage, or Twinking, which is making yourself look more powerful then you really are.
That is what is at hand. Ever since people found this out, the players that were getting prestige in a normal way was getting boned. Boned for months. Now this is a one time shot to the players prestige (a reset to 0) who did cheat, and people are in an uproar.
Prestige is a player stat that is compared among the player pool. For the few that cheated, all other players were recieving the short end of the stick. Now that has turned around when the developers have taken action.
The reason exploits are not explained are because the company risks other players knowledge about the said exploit. So it is usually kept under wraps until a fix is produced.

I invite debate.
Exploiters ruin everything.
That's why limits are sometimes needed.
That's why you have to type funny letters in Myspace to login.
Because of exploiters/spammers.
Instead of exploit and abuse, I prefer to call it strategy. Won't be long until another way is found to get what you need. I'll be damned if I ever tell anyone about it.
Because it wasn't intentional. No game is ever 100% perfect upon release. That's why nearly every computer game you'll find has patches, or version numbers like "1.22.1588" or the like, because oversights have to be corrected, and there's no way every last potential problem can be identified in foresight. And before someone says, "then Evony should have solved this in beta!" I'll point out that even well-known professional developers (such as Bioware or Blizzard) have also had post-beta "oopsies", and a lot of them have to be discovered via extensive gameplay, not through staring at a plethora of code lines or a few trial-runs.
Just because a bug or glitch was overlooked upon game release does not mean it's "fair game" to take advantage of it, and no amount of loophole logic changes that.
It's all Rodri's fault.
Also exploits found and used carry harsh penalties if used before they can be remedied.
Hiding the flag in WSG for example in a place where people get get to you.
saw many a player banned for that and that killed their honour
If anyone remembered, I made a thread about this exploit 2 weeks ago and all the exploiters came in here having a ball ranting how good they are.
I am glad this action was taken and I also agree that some of those exploiters, if not all, should be banned.
An exploit is constantly taking advantage of something that was not intended. Yes, you can do it once, twice and even a few times. If you do it too many times, that's exploiting. How do you know it's not intended? If something is too good to be true, it's usually not true.
