I didn't lose Prestige, I didn't participate in the so-called exploit. I am baffled though as to the apparent outrage from Evony that this happened. I can't believe they would take the moral high ground on an issue they are 100% culpable for, by making it that way in the first place.

I'm glad they fixed it. I don't particularly care about prestige anyway, in fact it might have been good to lose some because then I might attract attacks.

With so many bugs and other unresolved issued in game, I'm frankly astonished at the over-reaction to this issue by the dev's.
Exploits are abusing the game mechanics. If it were not what the developers created, then it would be labeled as a cheat which usually involves third party software. Developers make mistakes at times whether it be terrain that can be abused to get an advantage, or Twinking, which is making yourself look more powerful then you really are.

That is what is at hand. Ever since people found this out, the players that were getting prestige in a normal way was getting boned. Boned for months. Now this is a one time shot to the players prestige (a reset to 0) who did cheat, and people are in an uproar.

Prestige is a player stat that is compared among the player pool. For the few that cheated, all other players were recieving the short end of the stick. Now that has turned around when the developers have taken action.

The reason exploits are not explained are because the company risks other players knowledge about the said exploit. So it is usually kept under wraps until a fix is produced.

It might say that they can. Just like they might decide to ban/nerf everyone whose name starts with an 'F'. Just because they have a clause saying they can do it doesn't mean they should do it.

Evony has taken the moral high ground by labelling these players as cheats, I am merely pointing out that they only have themselves to blame and using those players who found a loop hole as scape goats is spurious in the extreme.

BTW I wasn't one of the Prestige losers, I just object to the way this company is treating its customers.
    I totally agree with you!

Note: I am not affected by this change (I didn't do that prestige farming) except for going up a few ranks, which I don't really care about.

I will tell you one thing, if you weigh prestige so highly. A lot more players were affected by the few that chose to exploit then the other way around.

Have you played any other online game before? Exploits are subject to the company's decision and what they choose to do is their way. I've seen far worse done by companys with a SUBSCRIPTION based system.

I'm happy this was done. The only people I few bad are the ones that did not cheat and got their prestige taken away.
I would like to take a break from your regularly scheduled complaining to give a short public service announcement.....

    chino = smart

Now back to your regular scheduled complaining.

Instead of exploit and abuse, I prefer to call it strategy. Won't be long until another way is found to get what you need. I'll be damned if I ever tell anyone about it.

Because it wasn't intentional. No game is ever 100% perfect upon release. That's why nearly every computer game you'll find has patches, or version numbers like "1.22.1588" or the like, because oversights have to be corrected, and there's no way every last potential problem can be identified in foresight. And before someone says, "then Evony should have solved this in beta!" I'll point out that even well-known professional developers (such as Bioware or Blizzard) have also had post-beta "oopsies", and a lot of them have to be discovered via extensive gameplay, not through staring at a plethora of code lines or a few trial-runs.

Just because a bug or glitch was overlooked upon game release does not mean it's "fair game" to take advantage of it, and no amount of loophole logic changes that.
    It's all Rodri's fault.

Also exploits found and used carry harsh penalties if used before they can be remedied.

Hiding the flag in WSG for example in a place where people get get to you.

saw many a player banned for that and that killed their honour

If anyone remembered, I made a thread about this exploit 2 weeks ago and all the exploiters came in here having a ball ranting how good they are.

I am glad this action was taken and I also agree that some of those exploiters, if not all, should be banned.

An exploit is constantly taking advantage of something that was not intended. Yes, you can do it once, twice and even a few times. If you do it too many times, that's exploiting. How do you know it's not intended? If something is too good to be true, it's usually not true.
