    Text The Prestige Effect

I see a lot of complaints about the prestige rollback and even posts defending it make mention of prestige not having any in-game effect. I disagree.

While prstige itself is not relevant in game terms, it is relevant as a first line of defense against new and intermediate players. When a newer player sees another player has 2M prestige, they are most certainly taken aback. There is less likelihood a player with monstrous prestige will be attack over a player with less prestige.

Argue all you want one way or the other but the reality is prestige has a psychological impact on players.

    The rollback was appropriate.

So now you've got players still with a massive amount of troops, defenses maxed out, but no prestige.. Mr or Ms Noob, just out of beginners protection with 25K sees that and thinks, oh nice, a small player, let's attack with all the troops i've been building up in this week, a nice practise.

They lose the attack, then get wiped away like a fly...

Off course the roll back isn't appropriate

Not to mention that all those players reset to zero, are just going to build their prestige back up just as quickly. I've already seen claims of 10K a day. Yep, the exploitive behaviour (against NPCs) has been well and truly fixed...

As you've made clear, the effect of presitge cannot be denied... only cried about.

Why do large players need defense against new and intermediate players? Wall defenses can kill most attacks without any troop loss on big cities, I know as a large player I wish people would attack me. Instead I have to go to them, *******s.

On an amusing sidenote, the #1 player on my server from the prestige list was one of those exploiters, he had a ton of prestige but no real army. I guess some people took it upon themselves to make him out to be a challenge of sorts. He got uber plundered a few times. I think they actually left him alone when they realized how weak he really was. Ha.

High prestige is a deterrent on sight for many newer players.

I agree that prestige has a big impact on individuals deciding to atack different players larger or smaller. I do think that if you are cheating the system that there should be some punishment for that and rolling the prestige to 0 is a reasonable resoponce to the situation.

10k a day? I can get 26.6K from recruiting alone. I mean come on...

There are still half a dozen ways to rapidly boost prestige in the game, any of which could, and probably will be, labeled as an exploit by a select group of players. Just be an average player, and no one will have a problem with you.
