As a new guy, I'm quite happy

to hear that walls+AT+A give a reasonable chance of defense vs the big-kahoonas out there. I believe this game aims for pseudo-realism - no magic, no dragons, no flame throwers etc - so hardcore castle defense is spot on.
It took 10 years + 100,000 lifetime trained Archers/Swordsmen/Horsemen + 50 regular heroes (generals & captains), + Achilles (super fighter) + Odyseus (super spy) to take down the walled city of Troy.
If anything is needed to balance the game add Machiavellian politics. Assassinations, poison the water supplies, inquisitions, state propaganda etc.
cheers
