    You had me puzzled on this...

    Trying to think of a single situation where violation of forum rules would be better handled behind closed doors....

    I have been on many forums and some forums even have a sticky thread with link , with who has been banned and the reason they were banned along with the actual post.
    Issues having legal (criminal and civil) ramifications are best handled behind closed doors.

    As a forum operator, I have been sued, for blocking/banning someone who was cyber-stalking another user. (the case was quickly dismissed) If I allowed the issue to be played out on the public forum it would have quickly turned into a free-for-all bashing feast. Not just on the stalker, but on the victim, the moderators, board operators, and each other. The focus on the forum (a game) would be lost. The only thing that needed to be said was person X has been banned, and would not be returning.

    Once I was on a trip in the Amazon River I was assaulted by a hail of arrows from the local archers and I got mad so I made a post about how Archers attacking near rivers had a big advantage and if they were level 10 rivers then I was even more screwed because wow defensive buff but hey a mod locked my post and now im :ma d:

    y caint i whine in a thread bout how that mod is bad mod!1
