Thread: Lack of Game Support...

wow. I hadn't planned on registering for the forums, but after reading this i cant help myself.

Firstly, im making the assumption that you are on server #1. I say this because i was browsing the forum and looking at new posts i came across a message in the News section that announced a reset on the 19th and apologized for the short notice....
    http://bbs.civony.com/showthread.php?t=2779

Secondly, about where you look first, well i don't know about the other servers, but im on three and every time i log in the quest screen is open and a rather noticeable white text bubble with red lettering is there reminding players that Civony admin suggest new players follow the quests. The text bubble certainly grabbed my attention before anything else. It also has a bit of an arrow that leads your eye to the quest button. I may not be normal, but i certainly read what each button was for before moving on to the quests.

Thirdly, my ADHD 14 year old brother was able to figure out the quests. Yes you eventually run out resources, but if im not mistaken(it has been three days since i started) you have more than enough resources to get the necessary population limit for the other quests to appear. One of the earlier quests has you use the Aries Amulet and tells you the two ways to do so, one of which leads you through your items, and the newbie package is in the same section of your inventory that the aries amulets are.

Fourthly, unless you raise your town hall lvl to 5 you cant be attacked for 7 days. Within 36 hours(i did other things and slept, you know, perfect time to build resources...)
i had a lvl 4 town hall, 4 colonies and a 2nd city, as well as a pretty decent army, though i'm sure if i went out of protection now i would be slaughtered. I'm only at 12k prestige.... stupid rose medals are so hard to get, although that would be a nice quest teaching HOW to get more medals, though i guess it might have explained it in the medal quests, i didn't really read them having been lucky enough to receive all three boxes through different means... sorry rant

Lastly, while i don't agree with your reasoning's, a guide would have been nice. Some of the "guides" in the forum are next to useless. As for a tutorial quest.. well no. That's not that good of an idea. That would make a lot of the quests pointless. If you follow them you know what each building does, and you get separate rewards for each, which is very helpful, especially earlier on as it saves you HOURS of time with not having to wait for the resources to come back.... The only thing along these lines that MIGHT be helpful is something similar to what Imperial Conflict implemented for its newbies. But that would require a separate newbie server. Basically they have a test run server all newbies have to do it and it ends when they reach a certain goal. This gives the newbies SOME experience before being thrown to the more experienced players mercy. There were also experienced volunteers who tutored the newbies in this server. I couldnt begin to speculate on what would be needed for civony to have something similar, although i dont think it would be needed other than to weed out the people who will just give up(like the city beside me who has been at 223 prestige since i started 3 days ago....)....

anyways, sorry for the long post...

I have only been playing for 10 or 11 days, I like iamjmph01 hadn't intended to register but had to post on this.

Your eye flow chart BS was amusing but completely off topic. I'm not going to nit pick the spelling issue's I am one of the worst spellers so I let that go. But saying there's nothing letting you know what to do is silly. City-builder War Game this is what Civony is. According to the ADD that directed me to the registration page, told me this. I don't know how you found the game.

I admit that I have been playing Travian for two years. There are many things missing to travian. Many of those things I find in Civony which is why I am gravitating towards it more and more. I had no idea what I was getting into for sure until I got logged in and experienced the massive amounts of lag. The up side to the lag provided massive amounts of time to read the quest section since it seemed to be working through the lag. As an experienced Travian player I went straight to the map tabs and learned quickly which tab did which after reading the first few quests which also guided me to those. Again I clarify that I Have been playing travian which has similar settings and tabs for two years but a tedious skipable tutorial(more bennifical to use the tutorial). I am not cutting into anyone's "newb"ness, just what I did. I made my farm first since I knew I would need it, I then used the various quest(as I recall 5 on the first legs of quests). I screwed some things up and misunderstood the horrible translations from what ever the base language the game was made in. But managed to recover fairly quickly. I had used my time wisely and built resource fields because one of the quests tells me too. I managed to follow all the quests fairly easily and had 3 cities before i was out of protection a fairly large army and as a quest told me joined an alliance(i then moved from it to one with people on during my play time so I could learn more) The point is that it is in the quests... there are plenty of quests to guide the newb provided the newb is willing to do a little reading. Besides if you had read the quests you would have found that MOST of the quests gave you resources in return for completing them, I wanna know how you ran out of resources so fast? I still techincally have never stopped building troops or buildings at any of my now 5 cities.

I knew going into the game i was playing a Civalization builder/Strategy War Game. Needing resources is obvious for anyone that has played STARCRAFT, one of the most popular Real Time Strategy Games ever made. Not comprehending what you read from the quests is the reason you didn't succeed. Not because your eyeballs traveled to the bottom left corner or upper left hand monkey pile of stinkie w/ symbols waving off of it(joke). Stop listening to people in the world chat most of them want to convince you of some BS cheat to use so you waste your speakers... read about speakers in an early quest too. Amazing what information was in those quests... guess I got a better package of quests then you did or understood what I read better.
