    Default Some aspects of Advance battle explained

    First I read allot of what many people say and think and wile some holds true I think many still seem to rant on things that are not true.

    I Know I have some but not all reports to show what i want to touch base on. Server is down now wile I write this. I will add the ones i have and check to see if older ones from yesterday in alliance combat section will work here.

    OK I have everything at teck 10 and I went after a player with the same all tech 10. I have like 900K prestige he had like 700K but thats not really of importance.

    I took 2 of his cities yesterday that were basically all lev 9 and 10 items in them and gave them away and have taken one tonight. Reason I wanted to fight was to give cities away and get at the resources that were in the Millions.

    Now I have 3 of his cities within 17 miles of me so I scout first. and want to discuss taking 2 of the three and things I learned from it.

    FIRST: Remember he is all teck 10 in a pretty maxed out city.
    A. He has like 14.1K AT, 30K archer and like 6.5K Ballista in town
    B. He has other soldiers as well of no real concern of mine.

    SECOND: I send in 2 100K archer waves.
    A. first wave) They all die but I kill off the 30K archers and 4K AT.
    now he ONLY has 10K AT and 6.5K Ballista, not so bad one would think... LOL so I thought
    B. second wave) all 100K archers die. I kill 500 AT only....


    This sort of stuns me... I mean now I realize it's not in my interest to continue as is. This is were most say well it's just to hard. Or say AT's to powerful but I took out 17K several times in past and know this is not true. I know 100K archers can take out 14K AT and 30K archers inside. And that is not even the case now. The case now is just 10K AT and 6.5K Ballista, so the Ballista are stopping me in my tracks.

    To me what was different was the 6.5K Ballista inside. They are the ones that stopped me dead in my tracks trading 100K archer for only 500 AT.

    My Solution.... I then send in a 75K Scout BOMB. even got a report on it.
    I loose the scouts but they kill ALL the ballista and like 500 AT.

    The 75K scouts did what the 100K archers could not.

    I now send another 100K archers and "The fat lady sings" the rest of the AT's fall easy and I get to go gather up 40 mil gold and like 250 mil food and other resources.

    Next city I want to discuss is with same player and techs as I said and another fully built sweet city. Also fully loaded.

    FIRST SCOUT:

    The difference is here. He has like 14.1 AT and 90K archers inside. and assorted troops plus like 17K scout...

    First: I know sending 100K archers to meet 90K archers and 14.1K AT with there bonus is pretty much suicide...

    SO I figure I may cut the numbers of archers some with scout bombs. But not sure how 17K scouts on def may interact with that plan.

    A. I decide on 50K scouts to see.
    They attack and die no report but next scout shows i killed 9K archers. hes down to 81K archers.

    SECOND SCOUT:

    B. I Decide to try again with more scouts to see.
    I send in 65K scouts no report so I scout again and I find I killed 14K archers and hes down to 67K archers on def now.

    THIRD SCOUT:

    C. I now think with 14.1K AT and 67K archers and NO BALLISTA... I have a chance to take him now... Though will still not be a cake walk.

    So I send 3 waves of 100K archers followed by 1 wave of 99K Cata to drive the nail in the coffin if by chance 300K archers fail to do it but I'm thinking 300K should get in.

    OUTCOME. These reports I know I still have but I loose the first 100K archers with a rainbow and take out a large number of the archers.

    2nd wave breaks his back and gets in with moderate losses. 3rd and 4th wave were not needed they just pack off plunder.

    SO my conclusions are that 17K AT are not to be feared and are not the be all end all can't get past item. Not all but many think AT's are to OP. They are nice but not the ultimate defense.

    Some say 60K archers with AT can't be cracked you can send endless waves of 100K archers to die. I can show or prove less than 200K can easily do this even to a fully teched out Defender and city. SO 60K archers is not ultimate def.

    What I did learn is 6.5K Ballistas in defense do more than 67K archers and 17K AT. I dont hear or read allot of stories saying Ballistas are the UBER Def but they sure seemed that way to me.

    Yet 75K scouts can pounce them like African ARMY ants and devour them were 100K archers can't and clear the way.

    Now let me go see what reports I can find and add to this if server is back up...

    I'm sure the scout bomb will be deemed an exploit soon enough. =P

    I'm glad to see people are using scout bomb for what it was intended to be, a softening device to make an unconquerable city conquerable. Kudos to you soin, though I think you would have benefitted from taking it to the extremes I espoused :P

    My only lament is that it will not live under the original title I gave it, but rather under the two syllable heading knuckles gave it. But that's human nature.

    That statement alone should tell everyone just how utterly screwed up the game is. I've heard all the fanboys keep defending the current battle mechanics, but no one with actual data like the OP to support and back up their conclusions.

    Edit - One other thing I want to mention : He has a low-mid level hero, only level 47 or so, your attacking heroes have at least twice his levels. All things being equal, the battles would have been MORE broken because it would have made your life that much more difficult.

    From my understanding of Evony devs, I am sure evony will find out about the scout bomb and determine it is cheating and exploiting a game mechanic.

    Scout bomb is obviously and exploit in the game and needs to be reported. To use it is cheating.

    It just shows that a one sided defense as with anything is'nt perfect. This tactic is VERY easy to defend against if built right. But for when facing those type of defences it works well enough.

    Extremely interesting reading. I wonder, are you interested in working with me to try and de-construct how the battle system works in order to make a working battle sim? I've been working on it for some time and have some really cool theories, but as of yet I can't quite get past a few irregularities. I'm looking for someone who is interested in that kind of thing and smart to work with me on it. Give me a PM if you are interested, don't need to be a programmer even, just interested in figuring out the battle algorithm and formulas involved.
