Unhappy HBR Lv10 has ruined my ballistas.. and my game

    HI

I want to complaint about the useless of upgrading the horseback riding to Lv10
bc far from improve my army has done nothing but ruined.

I used to farm NPC's 5 with 300 ballistas and 470 transporters with 0 losses.
    my tech were:

    Archery:10
    HBR:9
    MT:9
    IW:9
    Medicine:9
    Hero attack 110

After Upgradung HBR to lv10 I start to have losses against NPC5 with the same combination that before (except the HBR)

So, I started to do some enquiries about ballistas and archer towers range and speed, also for catapults.
I found a useful information in this chart:
    http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...MIrWozNF_Idu4g

So, with the calculator in one hand, I have made a table of free rounds that a ballista or a catapult may have depending on archery Lv (for shooting range) and HBR (for speed and number of rounds)

I assume that the battle start at 5000 steps and each step is one round.
the ranged units will start shooting at its maximun range and advance 1 step each round, this step will be as big as it speed.

in the following tables I show how much FREE rounds has a ballista or a catapult before to get inside defenders archer towers range.
There is differences about HBR levels (9 or 10) and I assume archery Lv is 10 in any case.

I add a (+) for a positive free round for the attacker or (-) for a archer tower.
0 stands for even (Both start shooting at the same time)

    ..............BALLISTAS..........CATAPULTS

    .........HBR9.....HBR10........HBR9.......HBR10

    NPC5...+2........+1..............+3..........+3

    NPC6...+1........+1.............+2...........+2

    NPC7....0.........-1..............+1...........+1

    NPC8....-1........-2..............-1............0

    NPC9....-2........-3..............-2...........-1

    NPC10...-3.......-4...............-3...........-3

After doing all the calculations its easy to see that HBR Lv10 is a ballista killer
being much better to keep at Lv9.
With the catapults has just advantage against NPC8 and NPC9

In a overall way, there's no point to waste one Michelangelo's script to upgrade your stable, and therefore get HBR10.
If you have done it, like me, the only way to fix the problem is to get rid of the ballistas and bet for the catapults, that, at least, dont be punished by the HBR10.
In my case, I'm not willing to spend 50$ to buy 10 michelangelos in order to upgrade, at least, 10 barracks and start producing catapults.
I can't not use my ballistas anymore as now I'm in disadvantage.

i think this is going to be the end of the game for me.

    too sad.

What would you give if I gave you a solution to your problem??
    Server 6, Matricks

Standard Battle Reports thread: I scouted and put these amounts into Exercise and got 0 losses. Then I attacked and all my forces died! Wtf!

In your raiding city, de-level your Academy to 4.

HBR requires Lvl 5 Academy, and Archery requires only Level 4.

If you delevel your Academy, you keep Archery but you lose HBR.

You'll also lose some other higher-level things in that city, but if your primary concern is raiding then drop it to 4.

    RETIRED FROM EVONY
In short, the carebears won the battle for Civony. Behold their chubby rainbow bellies and tremble, for they lost every single battle, but sure as heck won the war.

Hey! thanks for mentioning about the difference between HBR 9 and 10.
I now know not to go round upgrading it to 10.

I raid level 5 npc's all the time and I have HBR lv 10. I never take any losses at all. Maybe it's because I go with 600 ballista instead of 300.
I could probably go with 500 but I have enough ballistas to use 600 from each of my towns and still have spares.
The thing is that archer towers have a longer range than ballistas, so to my thinking the faster that they get into attacking range, the less hits the defenders get for free.

Going off your chart here, How many free rounds would you get if your HBR was 0?

I agree with you on the higher level NPC who do in fact have more range then the ballista. But in the case of the lower level NPC's this does not hold true.. Otherwise you wouldn't be ably to even clear a 5 without taking at least some loss.

Your not taking loss because your killing them off before you get in range of their fire.. The extra amount you send enables you to do that..

Well I guess I would rather go with more ballistas than start demolishing what took many hours to upgrade. I just wish there was a more noticable effect to travel times for ballistas with the horseback riding lv 10.
