Well, the first two responses (Demon don't comment on my spelling) are correrct, but the best way is this:

1. Click the User CP at the top of the page
2. Click the edit avatar link on the left
3. You chose if you want to upload it from the web or from the computer
4. You upload it
5. You brag about it

Now you add to rep at top right hand corner
