Madame Curie is probly the best female genius I can think of offhand, but she died from radiation poison so win/fail ratio is pretty even

There are alot of smart females but most of them are in the kitchen you know because they are smart.

Excellent example for female genius! Someone who died to her own discovery ha-ha!

True. Many of Einstein's ideas were her ideas.

    Shouldn't this be in "Off-Topic?"

In short, the carebears won the battle for Civony. Behold their chubby rainbow bellies and tremble, for they lost every single battle, but sure as heck won the war.

Ok I'll be serious for a moment, women havent really had the time and opportunity to make the same ground breaking name recognition that men have, so if your criteria is "everyone must know them" then you're up the creek.

Here's a true freaking female genius, but NO ONE will know her.

    Lene Vestergaard Hau

    Why is she a genius?

She STOPPED light. Yeah that's right, let's see you do that shiz. Anyway, there's tons of brilliant women out there but none will get name recognition like figures of the past.

Ok thats the last you'll hear me praise women, I return to mocking them or hitting on them (sadly the two are not mutually exclusive)

By careful manipulation of the properties of bose einstein condensates she slowed light and even stopped it for a brief fraction of time. Unfortunately the paper was released in Nature which requires a fee to subscribe so I can't release the paper.

EDIT: Nevermind I found a working link to her letter to nature
