Just like all the women in the bible are wh0res and liars and whatnot and there's all these godly men... It's the same deal.

Just because the male historians didn't write their names down doesn't mean they never existed.
I was thinking along the same lines. I know that there have been cultures in which women have not been oppressed to the extent that they have been in the Western world, but I don't know much about them or the notable women that existed in them.

Side note: a woman I know is a professor in astro-physics. When she was doing her studies (in the 80s and 90s), her professors continually suggested she find another field of study, regardless of how well she was doing in their course. Other women in the program were given the same bit of "advice". Oddly, she was unaware of any male student that was given this advice, regardless of how poorly the man was doing. She also mentioned that the university's astro-physics building is 5 floors, and has only 1 women's washroom. There are multiple men's washrooms on each floor.
