I was here for the first medal nurf, and Civony survived it. It was far worse that time around, as the mods were reporting over and over again that medals still dropped when they in fact did not.
Not talking about one a day for an entire alliance stuff either, I am talking about an entire alliance farming and getting nothing for weeks. At least now medals do actually drop. You are not investing millions of resources in troops that will die for absolutely nothing.
Civony will survive this as well. Heck I am hanging around for age two regardless of what they do.
It is however becoming depressingly clear the kind of long term customers Civony wishes to cater to.
The ability PvP and capture cities has been nurfed over and over again. From the start the fact that cities could hold unlimited troops AND call in allied reinforcements made high level one on one PvP impossible. You simply couldn't attack people even half your strength while they were online, as they could pile all their troops in one city AND call for help from other players.
Even capping the city of someone who was off line took hours. You first have to march your slow tailed army twenty to fifty miles to knock down enemy troops, clear out fortifications with waves of other slow units, scout spam, then spend an hour dropping the city's loyalty from 15 to 5, clear out the troops with another slow army once the gates opened, and spend half an hour dropping the city's loyalty from 5 to 0.
Most people didn't have that kind of time. Evony simply isn't fast paced enough to sit in front of for three hours at a time, and going AFK with attacks launched is dangerous.
Then they nurfed scout spamming, making dropping loyalty take even longer. Then then came the NPC nerf to diminish army size, then came the wall buff to ensure that you needed >500k troops to clear out a reasonably defended city.
Now with the medal nurf on new servers, they want weeks to go by (minimum) before you can amass enough medals to capture another city.
It is clear that they wish long term players to focus on building, farming NPC valleys and cities, while greatly minimizing the reward for PvP, and maximizing it's cost. It isn't cost effective to farm other high level players for resources, and you won't be capturing more then two cities a month. Obviously little PvP is going to take place outside of griefing.
In short, the carebears won the battle for Civony. Behold their chubby rainbow bellies and tremble, for they lost every single battle, but sure as heck won the war.
A shame, but it is highly probable that age two will have very entertaining and cooperative PvE aspects.Far from a lost cause, even if PvP dies.
