Every martial arts was developed for actual fighting, although some were developed to kill, some as defense, and some as a wide range of both.

I do think when you learn one that is meant to kill, you must learn extreme self discipline so you do not accidentally kill someone who may only punch you in the face.

In all that I have learned, the biggest thing I learned is using the same amount of force or intent that is used towards you. If someone attacks you with the intent of only trying to shame you, do the same back, if someone wants to injure you, turn it around and injure them. If someone wants to kill you, then you have no choice but to defend yourself with the same intent.

Well, actually the core of the forum is to disable your opponent in the quicketst, safest, most efficent manor possible, and yes that somtimes means lethaly, but not always, or even most of the time, alsokeep in mind, any fight that ends with one person on the ground, you trip them, or you simply step out of the way of their charge can leave them dead, you need self diciplin whatever you do, but simply becasue it is effective is not a reason not to train in somthing.
