And you won't get much sympathy if it was you who forgot to change the taxes back overnight. It's like the King who forgot he took all the peasant's wives and children and sent them to labor camp, the farmers' prize pigs, and liquidated the nobles' possessions all in a single night.

Then he wakes up to expect that crowd of pitchfork and torch wielding people at his doorstep to be smiling and ready for a parade.
interesting comparison. Sending a family purposefully to a labor camp and forgetting to adjust tax overnight. I just don't see the point of additional penalty on top of losing all your population/production. Isn't that enough with the effort needed to raise population/loyalty again? I needed to have a 2nd riot 1 hour after my 1st riot taking another 3+million gold/6million food? Just a completely overkill penalty. When you wiegh out the benefits to the penalty for forgetting, it's pretty lame. All for "forgetting" something small.

I can go along somewhat that it is uneeded to use tax rate. But, that in itself just shows the game's deficiency. You can exploit npc farming to the extent gold production is a joke. But, that's not the point. The bottom line is... the additional penalty is just overkill. I guess they'd just prefer everyone admit the flaws in the system, camp npcs, and just never use tax rate.
