Shock and awe that different forms of life might conform to different rules than our own. Are plants intelligent? Define intelligence first. In most cases your definition will be something precludes plants so of course the answer will be no.

Broaden the spectrum and perhaps we may find the answer to be yes.
I'm going to so far as to say that you're wrong Pokey. Humans do indeed rely on intellectual reasoning, if not a combination of intellect and instinct. You know that thing called logic? An anorexic may have the instinct to eat food, but they know that if they do they'll gain weight (terrible example).
