The only problem is that the powers that be have obviously decided on a high turnover style of marketing, as evidenced by the style of advertising and the ievony campaign.

So I doubt that the loss of longer term players would be of too much concern to them. This is the way that some countries became economic powerhouses. By mass-producing products of very dubious quality and flooding the market place at a price (free?) that is hard to resist.

There is some concern in the broader gaming community that this is the way of the future and it has been said by others that we as gamers will be bombarded with multiple choices of free games that will at first appearance look good and have something to offer, but after some closer examination will turn out to be fairly shallow and lacking in substance and support.

I hope that as consumers we can be a bit more discerning and a bit more pro-active. If a company has poor customer service, then we should be demanding better from them. If a game is poorly developed then we should be letting them know that as well.

I still play Evony and I am still enjoying some aspects, but I am stuck in the end game dillema. Log on, send out the ballistae to farm the npc's for the massive amounts of food to feed my not so huge army. No-one attacks me and I have very few that I can attack and feel any sense of accomplishment.
If I didn't have an alliance to run, I might be playing something else by now.
