Thread: Ummm, combat... what huh?

    Default Ummm, combat... what huh?

So I am a great fan of strategy games and when I came across this little gem I was overjoyed. I do have a clarification request however regarding combat.

Am I reading all of these guides correctly that all it takes to stop 16 thousand soldiers is one guy?? I am reading that people place one worker, one warrior, one swordsman, one pikeman, etc. in front of their zerg of archers and somehow ever last man charging across the plains, thousands upon thousands as far as the horizon stretches in both directions, screaming their nation's warcry stops, dead in their tracks, to deal with these solitary individuals... one at a time! Meanwhile they are getting riddled with arrows while the entire teaming mass of 15,999 bloodthirsty killers twiddles his thumbs waiting for one chap to lop the head off Bob the Worker.

    15,999 Soldiers: "Done?"
    Other Soldier: "Yep, he's dead."
15,999 Soldiers: "Right, moving on then."

Who in the world developed this combat system? Please for the love of every 'good' strategy game ever made tell me that I have this all wrong and that is not how this potentially wonderful world works.

The comabt system is very basic right now. ( Having 1 of each Troop in an attack is commonly know as Rainbow Attacking, and because the system is so basic, it works...)

Based on what I saw in the short-lived AgeII Beta though combat is going to take on whole new demensions when AgeII goes live.
This will be a running tab on server 27...

Counter stopped at 250K Prestige : Reason, account still stuck at knight, after 25,560 attacks on valleys. Account abandoned.

can someone write a guide on how this works?

Do a search on Darwin which explains how the Rainbow attack works. There are some how swear that it works and others who do not. It is hard to pin down as the battle mechanics have a tendency to change day by day (a.k.a. unannounced patches)

Alright so I did some snooping around for more info on the digital Bigfoot that is AgeII. So no one has still seen, heard, read, anything regarding when and if this touted possible savior of a horrible combat system is going to come to fruition? Or even if this next manifestation is going to include a new combat system.
