Oh gawd, the hysterical "Won't somebody think of the children!" catch cry.
As I said the last time someone brought out this argument, I've got enough to worry about without the added stress of thinking that some screaming Mimi in internet land seems to think that, based on the ads and that age demographic I'm getting ever closer to, that I'm a drug crazed, lust fuelled, sexual deviant. Guess I better stop playing Civivor then.

Posts like this are garbage, pure and simple. A little use of that superpower known as 'Common Sense' would make it rather obvious that the 'sex-fiends' looking for a casual sex site would probably figure out that Evony is just a game, with rather outdated 2d graphics, by the time they hit that point where they chose a picture and a state to play in. As for the rest of the guys looking for boobs, I'm pretty sure they're the kids who thought this was some kind of FRPMMOG, like WoW (or one of the play for free knock offs), and soon leave when they run out of speakers and get bored.
Which is actually the whole crux of the matter with the ads. Yes they are risque, in the context of a lot of the sites they've turned up on, but the 'sex sells' is only a small portion of the community complaint. What seems to be the greater concern is that the ads create an impression that the game is 3d FRPG, rather than a small step up from a play-by-mail war game. Which is leading to more serious players getting annoyed at the world chat, and frustrated by the artificial inflation of player numbers on the servers.
Hysterically screaming 'Paedophiles and rapists are attracted by those ads' allows the company to stand by their official statement as it is written -

*All current adverts will be revamped to a more conservative nature (still waiting for that)
*All future adverts will also be more conservative in their presentation that the ones in question now

i.e. put some more clothes on the girls, maybe bring back the warrior guy, but no need to make the ads portray the game as an RTS wargame.
(which is still going to create some issues when the C&C, Starcraft, Warhammer, etc... players come in and wonder way they can't see their units marching across the board - but one fight at time)
