    I'm only referring to one city as a total fortress.

    Your other cities could be the traditional type that have armies going out and attacking and farming resources of npc's and other players, there's no need to be snide. But surely everyone has that one city that they just don't want to lose because of all the work they put into it

    How about camping transports from one of your other cities? You could setup a few hundred workers to deliver food every hour on the hour for the next day or so.

    Might consider capturing a lev.10 barb city and converting it. I've taken 2 of them and have been converting cottages to barracks.

    As far as scouts. You can just leave your gates closed to avoit a scout battle. But, if you want enough to leave gates open without worrying, try about 130k scouts. A lev.10 city can send as many as 125k scout with a war ensign and depedning if they have a better attack hero.

    You best defense unit will be archers and ballistas. They get the added range from walls. I have about 260k+ archers spread throughout my close cities and about 40k ballistas. If i am ever attacked(never been attacked), I can allocate them all to 1 city to make invincible(aside from several super waves).

    In simple point, you can't defend a city in Evony. Yes there are a million potential 'Theories' on ways you can circumvent the mechanics but bottom line, a city can''t produce enough food and walls don't support enough defence and no research or bonus allows you the numbers to hold a city if someone gets it in thier head they want to conquer it.

    All out defence players are one city players who choose to be a cow to thier neighbors when thier neighbors decide they need something t milk. Evony is not a war game, it's a Conquest elimination game. I don't know what they wanted it to be, I don't give a flying **** anymore. I just know what it isn't and it is Not a game about building cities. We build Archer platforms and Catapult platforms that we use to eliminate everyone with.

    Sucks, is great. It just is.

    In order:

    If you want a perfect defense, capture a lvl 10 barb city for it. You won;t need to waste those scripts. You can tear down the buildings one level at a time and build new ones in their place.

    18k towers and 500 abatis is my defense. Traps/logs/treb are easily taken down by warriors. Traps do not effect seige so a ballista assult will cause you a lot of damage. It is difficult to take down abatis even with cav spam results. With lvl 10 machinery, those abatis wil be there for a while.

    The next problem is troops. As seen on the firums, there is no perfect defense. If yo defend with archers, Rams andcataphracts/cavalry will kill them off. If you defend with cataphracts/cavalry, warriors kill them off.

    If there is a suggested method, it is layers. Keep a catapult and ballista for added range if your abatis gets completely destroyed. It will extend the range further than archer towers alone. Not much, but some is better than none. Rams take a lot of punishment, but expensive to keep as defense. Reinforce using cavalry and cataphracts against other cav/cat assults. Acrhers in defense will always beat other archers with greater numbers. Warriors are ram bait, they slow the attacks from moving forward.
