Joseph Smith Jr. was framed? ( I don't know the circumstances surrounding his death, so can't comment on that...)

When Joseph Smith Jr. was 19 he claimed, and advertised, that he could, using a Stone ( the very same Stone, I am sad to say, that he later claimed he could put into a Hat and hear the Word of God through) devine the location of both Silver and Gold.

Many people paid him money. His Stone never did locate any Silver or Gold. He was then convicted of Fraud.

Yes, I suppose that Morman's could indeed get upset from hearing this. They would probably like to bury the fact that their savior was anything but a farmboy before he became their Prophet.

I really don't want to start a huge Forum-War on this subject. I was simply making a statement when I made that first post, based on accurate history.

There are not a large number of Mormans where I currently live. I know several of them. They actually are fairly nice people, with a deep seated conviction in their faith. As soon as I found out that they were Mormans I made them a very simple deal...they do not discuss their beliefs with me, I do not discuss mine with them. We get along just fine. In fact I consider Todd to be one of the best friends I have ever had.
