Thread: Movement speeds realistic?

    Default Movement speeds realistic?

I don't hope to bring a nerf bat swinging, but only last night I realised how pathettically unreal movements speeds are in this game.

Scouts can reach a target 60 miles (96.5km) away in ten minutes, that would imply they move at 360 mp/h (579.4km/h).

Cavalry not so quick still manage to move at 80 mp/h (128.7 km/h), and archers on foot at a relatively blinding 30mp/h (48.3 km/h).

Very impressed to say the least.

hehe, I got plenty of time to waste.

I simply had a drunken moment of realisation as to just how fast people move in this game. It seems scouts can run to London quicker than I can take the train.

How realistic do you want them to get? We'll jus' ignore the fact that realistically you simply wouldn't get this number of lords occupyin' that size of land; that ownin' certain valleys or lands didn't increase any productions w/o massive extra worker forces slavin' away at it, that there jus' doesn't seem to be any end to the sheer number of average joe civilians floodin' into all the towns from everywhere and anywhere, that as far as time's concerned you and all your people are seemingly immortal?

Obv some things aren't gunna be bang on; it's called artistic lisencin'. Would you rather they made the maps smaller or scaled it down until it made no physical sense anymore...massive cities occupyin' a continent, all of them no more than fifty feet away from each other...or better yet, would you rather the troops slowed down to a realistic rate? How do you feel about troops takin' 20 minutes to move 2 miles?

Fine, as long as they weren't cavalry, I'd expect them to do it quicker
