If you don't like conflict with other people, go buy a copy of Sim City or something. Seems like you are saying you don't like PvP and neither do a lot of people, therefore you should be allowed to play PvP games your way and not have to deal with any of the repurcussions of, well, PvP. If that's what you're saying, go find a nice non PvP game. I can recommend a few if you like.

I'm not seeing your argument. Is it that, for you, a game is FUN only when there is no conflict or competition? Is it that, uh...apparantly since some bad things have happened over the course of human history, therefore average Joe's...I give up. I hardly think that 'Go join the army if you want realism' = 'Therefore its awesome that there is no way to actually fight anyone in a game ultimately based on fighting, land, and resource acquisition'.

Do you have a real argument? Because this makes little sense.
It makes little sense because you fail to acknowledge it. It doesn't matter what *I* think is fun. It doesn't matter what *you* think is fun. It only matters what the developers believe the majority of their player base will deem as fun. Apparently, they don't agree with you. And there are plenty of games out there like this (Travincal, Travius, etc) , some of them more cut throat than others. The developers ALREADY know, even if you fail to care about it, that in order to bring in the most income, they need to protect the interests of the majority of the players. And hang onto your horses, because it doesn't matter how "competitive" you are, it doesn't matter what your notion of "repercussion" or "pvp" is, but the developers clearly don't feel that people like you are the majority who's interests they need to protect, the mechanics of the game being what they are is the living proof.

You take exception to being called out to join the army if you want "competitiveness"? Funny then you foisted off the tired off "go play XYZ (Sim City in your case). Thats right. The game IS what it is. The developers know that in order to maximize their income (hey this IS a business in case you missed that) they need to make sure the majority of their playerbase is happy and paying. It seems that you need to take your own advice : if you aren't happy with the current design as is, go play another game. Or learn how to play smarter. Either way, whinning to have the rules changed to suit you isn't going to happen. I've seen it in this forum and many others, they invariably ended up not accomplishing anything. So once again, either learn to adapt, or go play Halo and Duke Nukem if you are so keen on smashing pixels, or better yet, joined the armed services and understand that beating up a bunch of virtual swordsmen does not make someone a man or a better person, but joining armed services will. You want competitiveness, that's the ticket. Or...understand that the CHALLENGE to dealing with these problems is part of the nature of competitiveness in this game, and begging the devs to change the rules for you is the exact *opposite* of what you are claiming to want to achieve.

But hey, feel free to think you are all that. The rest of the competent players are dealing and adapting instead of complaining.

    Next.
